It's the same old story for the Redskins and their fans
I'll start off by educating you, the reader, that the number of views or replies to anything I write here will never mean a thing to me. so you're welcome to make that comment again, just know that it doesn't register with me. while you're at it, you can say the predictable "I stopped reading here", "blah blah blah" "troll" or my personal favorite, "i dont understand how some people want to waste their time writing stuff " (which usually comes from a guy who has 5x the number of posts than me), just remember what you learned as a little baby: sticks and stones. it applies to me.
in fact, i should mention that when I reply to somebody's post, because of my own self confidence wth my knowledge of the game, I feel I'm always right. and so my take on the lack of responses to something has been and will always be an admission from everyone else that I am indeed right. once again. I like having the last word. like a judge. which is befitting someone of my knowledge. that probably annoyed a bunch of you. I'm just being truthful, why should I apologize for how I feel? and what's so bad about confident in one's own knowledge?
now, on to the topic. you know, the topic that no one one dares debate me your favorite team, the redskins.
this offseason to me and everyone else like me is the same as every redskins offseason. you just don't realize because you are a fan. which is an extremely powerful psychological adage to describe a customer.
your team is crap. it's bad. it's very bad in fact. it has no hope. I don't say any of this with delight, im stating an opinion. but you don't realize this. or.....maybe you do but you also need to make yourself feel like "but it's getting better"
it's not. they play the colts this afternoon. a team who fired it's mgmt, it's coaches, and many of it's top players of the past. the colts are the living embodiment of a team starting over. truly rebuilding. the redskins are now in year #3 with this latest regime. this is preseason game #3, this is the game that is supposed to as closely resemble a real game as you can get in august , at least in the first half. the redskins should dominate the first half. it shouldnt be anything closer than a 7 point lead and it really should be more. but will it?
espn the magazine recently predicted Washington at 2-14. they know. because they aren't fans. they aren't looking at your team with the emotion you do. now, the redskins aren't THAT bad, but another losing season in a long line of them is expected by those in the know, like me.
your team is filled with holes. all throughout it's roster. it's funny, but many of those holes are the same ones they had 3 years ago, 6 years ago, and 10 years ago. this offseason, they tried their latest trick, they tossed 4 high draft picks out for one college kid as they try and mask those holes with him.
meanwhile, the avg fan of any team, who in my opinion isn't much brighter than the avg professional wrestling fan, doesn't realize what was done to them. they just bought your loyalty for a few more seasons instead of earning it. once again. and you fall for this regimes tactic EVERY TIME.
they thank you for coming out in droves as they paraded their latest can't miss savior in a business suit between a line of cheerleaders at the stadium at a draft day party. and today they'll sell you some luck vs rg3 tshirts.
your loyalty is appreciated.
but are they building a winner? my whole point in signing up here and denouncing e current redskin way at other media locations is for you to look yourself in the mirror and STOP being a SAP. the redskins are a failure. and they are USING YOU. they are run by an expert in marketing (who I have heard fans brag about!) who knows how to use and abuse you and you don't even realize it's happening. why? cuz you're too caught up in your identity/ego as being a fan of the redskins. losing that identity is a fear you consciousness doesn't even realize. but I do. I find all sports and a redskin fan, in particular, to be weak. group thinking. social conditioning.
I know the game of football and the redskins history and their current makeup as well as anybody here. I remember ravin caldwells as well as I do Wilbur marshalls. i have a better understanding of social sciences as well. together, I see right through you. that's why nothing you say or don't say would ever begin to have an impact.
but I encourage you to stand up to Dan Snyder. stop falling for the gimmicks. stop being a little consumer. the redskins that I knew ended when he took over. he's the guy. he ruined your beloved team. the way they are managed, even to this day, has been a massive failure. your team is no better now than it was when mike shanahan took over. your team might win 6 or 7 games this year. big deal. it is still flawed in it's approach but they know how to get you excited every summer so you buy their crappy product every winter. you're a good a little customer.

I love my Redskins. I bleed burgandy and gold, and will until I die. It's not because I think they will win the superbowl, or because they are better than another team. It's because I inherited them, they are my team. And being a fan is about rooting as hard as you can, screaming till you lose your voice, and riding the roller coaster, no matter what. Fanhood isn't about talking crap, over-analyzing, or even winning. It's about love. And to you, "The Poster," somebody obviously forgot to show you any as a child. You can go on with your rants, being negative, putting down my team, and I will just go on loving them. As you put it yourself, sticks and stones....

It's one thing to be right and another thing to be a jerk (I would use another term but we're not allowed to cuss per the rules). Everyone is welcome to an opinion and just because you may feel you're right doesn't mean you are. I don't agree with a lot of stuff that some folks post on here because like you, I do know a lot about the game having played it my entire life and continue to study the game to this day. No one likes a know it all (or something that thinks they do) and even more so, they don't like someone who can never be wrong. Do yourself a big favor and go use the time it took you to write that long, dry, self-serving post, to do something good for someone that doesn't involve sitting in your bedroom at Moms house you've had for 42 years. Something like giving blood, cleaning up the freeways, hell, even go plant a tree or something. Just do yourself and all of us a favor her and post your comments somewhere else.

so did I. but I realized around 2000 they changed. I think it might have actually been the signing of Deion sanders. the anti -redskin. that was it. it was clear to me that it wasn't the redskins anymore.
you don't root for the redskins anymore. you root for a team that wears a similar uniform but it's not the redskins anymore.
it's funny how people can like a restaurant, for example for years. then when the restaurant changes ownership, and the service goes down, the food isn't good anymore and the whole experience is bad, those same people will say this place isn't the same and they don't go there anymore.
same principle yet different results when it comes to a sports team. fascinating to me, actually.
And being a fan is about roo as hard as you can, screaming till you lose your ce, and riding the roller coaster, no matter what. Fanhood isn't about talking crap, over-analyzing, or even winning. It's about love.
noo, that's YOUR definition of being a fan. and. I don't think it's fair that one person (you) gets to define what a fan is.
what if a fan is something much simpler: a dude that watches a teams games, roots for that team during the game, and expresses his opinions after that game?
And to you, "The Poster," somebody obviously forgot to show you any as a child. You can go your rants, being negativteam,
it's just funny to me on a purely psychological level what is the definition of negative. I don't see anything I've said or am saying or will say as negative. I see them as simply stating facts like the sun is yellow and the moon is white.
they are what they are. why doesn't your team get out of last place Before you claim that I'm negative?
I'm encouraging everyone to join me in posting this picture, after certain posts, as part of my "scroll to the troll" campaign. This will allow readers to simply scroll past posts, which just aren't worth the time it takes to read them.

yeah, those are the guys at the game that are getting into fights in the stands. go YouTube search redskin fans fight fed ex to get some local examples, those are real jerks. not a guy typin some thoughts on an iPad.
Everyone is welcome to an opinion and just because you
that's just something you say to make you feel that you're right. the reality is, that's ot a true stmt. take me for example, I come here, I tell it like it is, from my vantage point, which generally describes the redskins as a flawed and failing organizationc (and it's not like their winning super bowls here, so I'm not outing left field with that) and people's first line of defnse to that, the lazy man who can't think for himself, can only barf up one response "troll".
my opinion is not welcomed because it's not favorable. and it's not about the tone, it's about the consistency of my message. to that I say, then get out of last place for once!
I do know a lot about the game having played it my entire life and continue to study the game to this day.
good, then you have to acquiesce that what I say has merit. there's something very congruent with my message and something incongruent with what so many others say.
they ARE a last place team every year.
they DO lose 10+ games every year.
they DO constantly make major personnel mistakes every year.
Do yourself a big favor and go use the time it took you to write that long, dry, self-serving post, to do something good for someone that doesn't involve sitting in your bedroom
it took about 8-10 min to write.

10 more minutes you should invest in society instead of wasting time trying to "Shed the Light" in eyes of folks who really do not care about your opinion. Look up the term "Fan" and since you may not know, it's short for Fanatic. Most fans, myself included are hoping for the best. No one on here expects to go to the Super Bowl this year. We know it's a rebuilding process. Something that can't be done overnight and we all know that the last of the building blocks is the offensive line. Something I'm sure Bruce and Mike expected to do except the NFL and the uppers for the Giants decided to penalize us for being unethical and killing our salary cap. I'm sure we were going to grab some top level young free agent talent on the market to fill our holes on the Oline but the NFLPA decided to get the deal done so they accepted the NFL's position on this matter.
It may pain you to believe this, and we'll welcome you back as a fan, but we are getting better whether you like it or not. Even with guys like Tyler Polumbus who isn't a disaster at RT like you've said about our line. It's no where near what it should be but it's closer than it was a few years back. Keep in mind, we did draft 3 lineman this draft and while they're not plug and play talent, with some experience, you never know where they'll be. I expect 2 of them to be legit starters and that's Gettis and the BUS!

Stop trying to educate this no (I spelled it "NO" and not Know) it All... it's a massive waste of time, because he thinks he knows it all when you hit him with the truth, you'll "no, no, no...". A no it all doesn't base what it knows on facts, they take their warped opinions and find statements that fit, that preconceived opinion. In fact the only thing I know about "no it alls" is they don't know much, and have no clue how much knowledge they lack.

Don't ever call your weak minded self a fan of our team troll... You may have liked us as winners but can't stand by us when we are not? That's not a FAN.You are only a fan of your trivial self, and are not knowledgeable in any area of anything. I hope you find a friend one day, its pretty cool. Next time u address us do it in the proper forum.

nah, I'm off today. today is my day of rest. but thanks for your own, now, 4 cents, on how some stranger that you don't particulary care about should spend his day.
Look up the term "Fan" and since you may not know, it's short for Fanatic.
actually, this brief definition doesn't mention that..
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fan
just an ardent supporter.
but anyways, who cares if it did? do u always live your life straight by their given definitions or do you allow for some, any open mindedness?
take off the dress shirt and khakis. if you need the dictionary why stop there? quote the old King James while you're at it, see if I care. I still won't believe that a fan can only come in one flavor.
Most fans, myself included are hoping for the best. No one on here expects to go to the Super Bowl this year. We know it's a rebuilding process. Something that can't be done overnight
or even a decade apparently. maybe it'll take two decades. sorry for the snide comments, its just I'm not used to football talk here. I'll get better.
and we all know that the last of the building blocks is the offensive line.
is that what you call ignoring the very mechanism that keeps your mortgaged future safe......it's what your team has all the plans to address......just, last??
yeah, maybe it's more like, they want to fill seats so they spend millions on receivers (who probably should be last) and spend 3 first rounders and a high second rounder on a qb. tell u this much, rg3 better be the next John elway.
Something I'm sure Bruce and Mike expected to do except the NFL and the uppers for the Giants decided to penalize us for being
ohhhh, yes, right right right. I forgot. the redskins are in this predicament because of other people. its everyone else's fault. yes. and you know what their plan was prior to their penalty because you work on Bruce allen's staff, right? because in the previous two years they did show a propensity for fixing an awful offensive line, right?
typical Washington redskin fan response. it's somebody's else fault. and you would've paid your rent, too, this month had it not been for that guy that you owed 1000 bucks to, he just wouldn't leave you alone.
I get it.
It may pain you to believe this, and we'll welcome you back as a fan, but we are getting better whether you like it or not.
it wouldn't pain me if it were true and no, you're not. see this is where I have a decided advantage over you. your words can't win this for you. your team's play for so many years now disllowes you to have that benefit of the doubt. your team has to prove it this season ON THE FIELD. we'll see.
Even with guys like Tyler Polumbus who isn't a disaster at RT like you've said about our line. It's no where near what it should be but it's closer than it was a few years back.
I'm curious to see them against the eagles. have you seen the eagles this preseason? their defensive line is owning teams. and btw, the redskins starters were having all kinds of problems just manning up one one against the bears. they couldnt handle them. that's not a positive sign.
Keep in mind, we did draft 3 lineman this draft and while they're not plug and play talent, with some experience, you never know where they'll be. I expect 2 of them to be legit starters and that's Gettis and the BUS!
3rd, 5th, and 6th round draft picks. I'll wait and see on them. early indications are what one would expect....they're a long way from even worth being mentioned in your defense of that oline.

If you have to look up the definition of the word fan, then still feel the need to debate what a fan is... It means you were wrong to call yourself a fan to start with, because you weren't one and you can't call yourself one now because you are starting to realize what fans are and you're not one of them.
Nice!
Next you'll be wondering why you're on a fan site.

Some will call this feeding. Whatever. Whether you are a troll or not, it is a known fact that trolls create traffic and are almost welcome in the off-season. Moving on ...
I actually agree with most things you say about Snyder and the team. They are things many of us have said for over a decade. We know they are true already. Thanks for the reminder. We know. I'd suggest reminding us about once a year of the things you think are not changing.
As an example:
I essentially agree that in several important ways (that you later mention) this offseason is the same as all the others. However, my fandom does not prevent me from realizing it. In fact, my fandom makes it stand out and bother me much more than it would if I were not a fan.
I know how fun it can be to be condescending so I'll stay away from that.
The only other thing I wanted to mention is that this seems a little disingenuous:
If this is true then I actually really appreciate it. You may actually help some blind people though that's not likely. People don't like to change their minds as, I'm sure, you already know.
You admit as much here:
If that is true then I mostly just wasted 10 minutes.
Many of us did some years ago. Some of those who did are currently adopting a wait-and-see attitude as they think at least some important things may have changed. I can only speak for myself and certainly not for all.

I'm not going to be able to account for every fan. ok, you get it. redskin ticket sales went up 57% on the night after they drafted rg3. there's a whole lot of people that forget how pathetic this team was even just a couple of months ago.
but.....Whalla........
by trading away its future, they have the fans back! all by one transaction.........in APRIL! the team truly doesn't have to earn it .....they can buy this fan base's forgiveness.
people don't like to change their minds as, I'm sure, you already know.
