Redskins 1st round draft history 1970 to 1990.
I was thinking about Rg3 and giving up those 1st round pics to get him and for some reason I decided to look back at the skins 1st round draft history and boy did it surprise me.
My mouth almost hit the floor in shock ..... only three players taken from 1970 to 1990. That just blew my mind ..how much talent did we let get away over those years. I know the skins always liked the vets but only three 1st round picks over a 20 year span that is something else.
Two of the picks are now in the hall of fame. Art Monk and Darrell Green.
Mark May was the other.

But that was a different era. The draft is indispensable today. It wasn't then.

I agree with that statement in the 80's, however we still got art monk and darrell green also. The 70's ... I can't agree with that statement and maybe a couple of solid 1st round selections in the 70's and you might be saying 4 super bowl wins. I was just a baby in the 70's and a kid in the early 80's however

The damage here was done by not having anyone in charge of managing this franchise since Snyder became the owner
UNFORTUNATELY - it will take a year or so more to get over that era
we are fortunate to have our QB of the future on board
- it will still be another year or so before we can see a consistently competitive product on the field

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yes I have watched some stuff on that...I even seen where Don Shula said the wrong Q.B. played.Irn-Bru wrote:Forget another few 1st round picks . . . as welch would tell you, if only Sonny would have played in January 1973, we'd have 4 Lombardi Trophies.
I also have watched clips of Sonny because many on here said Sonny J. was best Q.B. to play for the skins. I have to say he could throw it deep with amazing accuracy. I really like that, when i think of a real Redskins football team. I always think.... Good ground attack, with a killer deep passing game, and a solid defense.

draft picks and managing franchises was very, very different in the 70s and 80s and to a less extent the 90s
Since Snyder took over here we have not had anyone managing the franchise or the draft - AT ALL

we now have guys in charge that have this franchise on the right track and they have turned things around here
time should show that the last 2 drafts were really great for this franchise
