Saints coaches & players = BIG trouble with bounties

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Wait, wait, wait. Am I the only one who believes this laugh out loud ridiculous?

1 year suspension for the Head Coach, indefinite for the DC (and what is the point of meeting in a year to discuss his status? Is he supposed to become more sorry for what he did in his down time, Goodell satisfied with his pound of flesh?), $500,000 from the team, 2!! second round draft picks, asst head coach 6 games and GM 8 games???!!!

On top of the crap he pulled with the cap on skins and dallas, he has taken this dictator role to a whole new level, i mean, this is so ridiculous its actually offending me that someone can just get away with this crap.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

I sincerely hope the NFL makes an example of this STUPID defensive coach

I initially liked this guy when he first came in but over time I grew to not seeing a very good DC and was eventually glad that he did not take over here

I guess he got his today

man oh man - Goodell is wielding a VERY big hammer here
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Brees has to be re-signed now... no HC or OC.... Brees will have to coach from under center, should add a few digits to that contract.

NO DOUBT - and the Peyton deal should help with a bigger $$ deal as well

this "EDICT" from the grand poobah is going to hurt this franchise a lot

CT, I keep saying: nothing done to a Cowboy can be too brutal. For instance, when, and you remember the play, "Di-rone Tab-bert" (aka "Diron Talbert") embellished a sack on Roger Staubach, a little, but turning Staubach upside down and dragging him about ten yards, head bouncing every step, well, that was not overly brutal, was it?

A person familiar with the situation said Thursday three current assistants are strong candidates to take over in Payton's absence: Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr., defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and offensive line coach Aaron Kromer.

I never said I had a problem with the "brutality". And, frankly, I think Diron let Roger off easy...

The Redskins used to be very good at getting under HIS skin, in particular. I couldn't understand it... I mean Diron was one of Roger's biggest fans!

The National Football League Players Association has told players involved in the Saints bounty case that they could face criminal charges.

The National Football League Players Association has hired outside counsel to represent them if needed.

Instead of authorities getting involved in what would be misdemeanor assault crimes if anything. Maybe they should pay attention to the NFL's blatant violations of Federal Antitrust laws.

Nothing good can come from Congress getting involved in football.

Period.

Gregg Williams Speech

Post by ToxicSkin »

4 min snippet of him talking to the defense b4 the playoff game against the 49ers in San Fran. I dont think he'll be back if the full 12mins has any more in it that 4min clip. stuff like "Kill Frank Gores Head" "He also told his players to try to injure receiver Michael Crabtree’s knee and said that they need to “find out” about concussions suffered by receiver Kyle Williams."

The complete recording is posted in the Smack forum.

Looks like everyone will pin it all on GW

The lawyer for suspended New Orleans Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt called indefinitely suspended defensive coordinator Gregg Williams a "rogue coach," for his role in the Saints "bounty" scandal.

Following their 90-minute appeal hearing with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, David Cornwell, Vitt's attorney, and Vitt were asked about a report on Yahoo! in which Williams was recorded telling players to target San Francisco 49ers players for injury the night before their divisional playoff game.

Cornwell said that was an example -- one of several -- of Williams going rogue. Cornwell said Payton and Loomis warned Williams that the NFL had notified the team a week earlier that it had re-opened an investigation into an alleged bounty scheme, but Williams ignored their requests to end the program.

Payton, at last week's league meetings, said he regretted being so focused on offense and not fully monitoring the defense, which Williams controlled

I remember back in the beginning of Joe Gibbs v2 era when their was speculation that part of Greg Williams agreement to come to Washington was the idea that he would eventually take over once Gibbs retired.
Thankfully that didn't happen.

Four suspended for Saints’ bounty program, Vilma for all of 2012

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has lowered the hammer on four New Orleans Saints players who were involved in the team’s bounty scandal, with Jonathan Vilma leading the way and getting one of the most significant suspensions in NFL history.

Vilma has been banished for all of 2012, effective immediately and through the Super Bowl, for his role in the bounty scandal. Vilma reportedly put $10,000 cash on the table in the team’s meeting room and said the cash would go to anyone who could knock Brett Favre out of the NFC Championship Game in January of 2010.

Will Smith was suspended four games. The NFL says he worked with former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in setting up the bounty program
.

Anthony Hargrove got half a season and is now with the Packers, while Scott Fujita will miss the first three games for the Browns.

The Saints planned for the lost of Vilma by bringing in linebackers during free agency, but I don't think they planned for the lost of Smith on the D-line.
