The Washington Redskins usually take Mondays off after a win, and must practice the day after losses. But this week, the team plans to spend “Victory Monday” on the football field.
Although Coach Mike Shanahan planned to reward his players with a day of rest after their 28-14 victory over the New York Giants, the Redskins declined.
Instead, they told their coach that they’re coming to work and want to get better.
Players have spoken about a different attitude, a more business-like approach and better focus, and obviously declining a day off this week is testament of that.
“It’s really attitude and something that’s going on in this locker room that I can’t explain,” receiver Anthony Armstrong said. “It’s different, but I really can’t explain.”

This, to me, is almost as exciting as the win yesterday.
Exactly, I was very young win we last won a super bowl and had the Gibbs 1.0 crew around, so I haven't seen a real team first attitude until now. It's refreshing and I hope this is a sign of things to come! !

We are probably not going to win the superbowl this year, but don't you just love the direction we are heading? I think i'd be just as happy for all the younger fans to finally see us win a superbowl as i would myself

I felt proud after our victory over NY but this... this just puts a warm feeling in my heart. I'm very impressed with the maturity of this team.
The attitude that this decision reflects validates what my eyes saw on the field yesterday (particularly from the defense). Not the win, but attitude, the fight. That, by god. . . that looked like a football team I could be proud of, win or lose.
I suspect we won't be seeing many more dropped passes from Messrs. Gaffney and Armstrong next week.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"
