inability to finish drives is a lingering negative from last year and years past.yupchagee wrote:Hardly surprising in the 1st preseason game with several new starters after a shortened preseason.Bob 0119 wrote:Before we get too high, and not to be a buzzkill, there were still some problems with the defense. Not as bad as last year, but there were still several occasions where defenders were finding themselves trapped out of position against the run leading to big gains, and if I recall at least three times where if the Steelers had connected on the deep pass it would have been a touchdown.
I know our starting safeties were out, but it seemed like Hall and Wilson were getting burned on the outside. Hope they fix that.
Roethlisburger and Leftwich aren't usually deep threats, but Vick would've eaten us alive on this plays; let's not forget we have to face Brady this season.
It was a good game, and the Skins played well, but it just as easily could've been 28-22 (if we had made those missed FGs) as it was 16-7.
The only real negative I saw was our inability to finish drives.

I know, but in previous years I had trouble finding positives. Fri. I could only find 1 negative. I'm sure Shanny will work on that.Red_One43 wrote:inability to finish drives is a lingering negative from last year and years past.yupchagee wrote:Hardly surprising in the 1st preseason game with several new starters after a shortened preseason.Bob 0119 wrote:Before we get too high, and not to be a buzzkill, there were still some problems with the defense. Not really a techncal comment, but upon my rewatch of the game, the feel and look of the team, from the first snap to the last one seemed uniformly energized and more in synch than in recent memory. It didn't feel herky-jerky or uneven. I thought both sides of the ball had good rhythms, outside of any specific positive or negative.
They just looked better.
They just looked better.

Umm... Jayson... no need to apologize... 'cept that it's more like stabbing yourself in the ear for 3+ hours while pouring Tabasco in your eyes at the same time... but, most of us would agree with the sentiment.Final note: Listening to Joe Theismann announcing a game is the equivalent of stabbing yourself in the ear for 3+ hours. I apologize to all Redskins fans. The nation caught a break with him no longer on NFL Network games but Washington gets stuck with him for every one of their games this year.

I have a lot of trouble with any and all play callers (color analysts) when the Redskins are not playing well
I never seem to mind the EXACT same guys doing the game when the Redskins are playing well
you know - that's just me

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

That's better, but it's still missing some element of making yourself permanently dumber through the experience. How about stabbing yourself in the ear, pouring tabasco in your eyes, and watching an Adam Sandler movie all at once?Countertrey wrote:Umm... Jayson... no need to apologize... My favorite Joe Theismannism is when he was asked if Joe Gibbs was a genius, he replied with:Irn-Bru wrote:That's better, but it's still missing some element of making yourself permanently dumber through the experience. How true that is.Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.
