Big Mike Williams Released

Post by Red_One43 »

Redskins cut Mike Williams
The return of former Bills top-five pick Mike Williams to the NFL in Washington was a great story of a former draft “bust” making good after years away from the league.

His comeback story likely ended Saturday when the Redskins officially released him.

Williams started eight games in 2009, but missed all of last season in 2010 because of blood clots found near his heart. It appears that health issue will prevent him from continuing to play.

As a Texas Longhorn fan, I was pulling doubly hard for Big Mike to make it back. I am surprised at how few, if any, follow up stories have been done regarding how he is doing healthwise. I hope that he has recovered from the blood clots.

I wish him the best.

So he wasn't able to heal? That's too bad.

Still, what that man accomplished was incredible. To lose that much weight, and be out of the league for that long, and make your way back into a starting lineup is really quite a feat.

I'm disappointed. I have been hoping to see this become one of those feel good stories. Guess not. Sorry, Big Mike.

Proud of you, big Mike. You showed grit, determination, talent, and heart. There is no shame in yielding to forces beyond your control.

Big Mike is a classy guy. He's got a great personality that needs to find itself in broadcasting. Would be nice to see him bump Sapp from the NFL Network line-up.

^Unfortunately, Sapp has cred that BMW was never able to approach. Won't happen.

^ Yup... a moron with cred. Say what you want, Sapp was a force on the field. BMW never quite got there.
