Two Monday Night Football Games

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Two Monday Night Football Games

Post by Justice Hog »

NFL | To Schedule Two Monday Night Football Games? - from www.KFFL.com
Sun, 4 Jul 2004 09:21:16 -0700
Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said the league is considering the idea of scheduling two Monday Night Football games in the future and selecting the better one to televise nationally. "We could start out with a single game on Monday night in the schedule and go to two games scheduled on Monday night later in the season, when the uncertainties are bigger," Tagliabue told the Los Angeles Times. "So there would be a lot of ways to do it. That's a priority, and it's also a priority for Sunday night as well."

I don't think I like the idea of having two Monday Night games.

How about you?

I like it if they keep both games on Monday night. It would screw with a lot of people's travel plans to have a "maybe" Monday night game and find out it's been moved to Sunday.

I think that both would definitely be scheduled and the only "maybe" would be whether it was nationally televised.

That's not too much of a problem, especially if the teams in the second game get to televise the game locally in their markets.

actually, i think he's right. they would pencil in two games for monday night, and then decide a week or so in advance which game would be the monday night game. the other game would then move to sunday afternoon. that's just what i heard from when they first started discussing it.

i think it's bogus. i understand the attraction of a ntaional audience, but why should abc get special treatment? if i were fox, cbs or espn, i'd be pissed. unless the skins are on, i usually end up only watching the first half anyway, and then going to bed. they should move the games back to 8, like they were a few years ago.

I thought there were 17 Monday night games?

No seriously, I agree. They end way too late for anyone living on the east coast. Sundays were made for football. (The alternative is raking leaves).
