Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
No. Just no. 30 year old man corner with top five salary does not fit cover 2 zone scheme at any price. Bruce Allen isn't dumb enough to blow all the cap he just cleared on a move like this.
I don't think we'll be really looking to add any older players - I think the credo will be how do they fit with what schemes we run and the other players already here and age - of course, we also have many positions of need and some are a lot more urgent than others

He'll come here and he won't get paid alot of money. He'll see our current DBs and want a piece too. Buchanon/Hall/Rogers/Asoidunno.. looks great on paper to me
Despite his injury he's probably still the best CB in the league. But one of the reasons he's leaving Oakland is that he'll be able to make some $13 million a year elsewhere. With all of our current holes on the roster, that's one area where we don't need FA star power, IMO.
I don't think we'll get him, but could this help us? Since he and Bailey are the two best corners in the league and they are free agents does that cut the price and demand for Rogers? I'd like him back. He's got hands of stone, but he's a good cover guy.

Another aging VET the skins will salivate over that, once signed to his extremely overpriced skins contract, will be another front office flop. No thanks. Please please please lets stop this idiotic cycle and start drafting players that are still hungry to make it in the NFL. I want hungry guys, not guys who need their egos bulstered.
I have always contended and never been proven incorrect on this yet: GMs that go after big-time free agents only do so because they know they aren't good enough to find these guys via the NFL draft. Lets hope that Bruce Allen has the balls to take a pass and build through the draft.
No thank you. Let's try drafting a guy and playing him!!! Seeing what GB has done, makes me wonder what a cheap young player could look like in a Redskins uni.

I agree Frank - it is going to be interesting to see how these guys approach this market - I also hope that we go for younger players - just have to like what we saw from some younger players here in the last few games PLUS we are way too old and need to get a lot younger - especially crucial to have young players available at the end of the season and into the playoffs
I don't mind having Snyder's wallet available but I hope we spend wisely rather than like he and Cerato did

cowpunks look like they'll get the best CB in the draft this year.. akamura? (i think that's how you spell it) Or Frank are there other ones that can come close to him?

Patrick Peterson will go first but I think he's over-rated.
I'm not really looking at the draft yet. Here in the next week or two, I'll start watching "Path to the Draft" with Mike Mayock on NFL Network. Lots of GREAT info on players coming out on that show. I would say, that's where I get most of my info from. NFL Network and Sirius NFL radio.
^^^ and we really have so many issues to address it's got to be looked at a step at a time
first comes the free agency and I hope we can add some young guys and not overspend
The most important position for both the franchise and the offense going forward is the QB - nobody does very well without a good QB and we need to make sure we get one and build around him
we need to find some more young offensive linemen and begin to build a strong offensive line that, as they get older, can be replaced - same for the other positions - bring in young players with an aggressive desire to want to play well, that can be coached and will provide good depth
THE most important piece however is that, somehow, some way, Bruce & Mike need to identify and bring in the QB that can be very good here for many years - the rest is just a matter of building a team properly through the draft process each year - hopefully adding to your picks as you can
