PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles are more worried about Michael Vick's injured leg than another attack on his dogfighting past.
Fox analyst Tucker Carlson gave the harshest critique of Vick's past yet, saying the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback "should have been executed" for his gruesome dogfighting crimes.
Carlson was guest hosting for Sean Hannity's show on Fox News Channel on Tuesday night when he made the remarks. He led a panel discussion about President Barack Obama commending the owner of the Eagles for giving Vick a second chance after his release from prison. Vick served 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring.
"I'm a Christian, I've made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances," Carlson said on the show. "But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did [it] in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that. He wasn't, but the idea that the president of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs?"
Pamela Browner White, the Eagles senior vice president of public affairs and government
Before we interfered with natural selection dogs killed each other. My question would be why natural selection hasn't killed Tucker Carlson yet. The answer: Because we interfered with natural selection.

I am ROTFLMHO.....that was funny.
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Look, Michael Vick paid a heavy price for what he did. He paid his dues and I believe that he is seriously remorseful for his actions. People need to move on with life.
Tucker Carlson is basically a "shock jock" at this point. Not too long ago he claimed we should put a stop to welfare because in theory food stamps COULD be used to buy lemons/limes for cocktails and appetizers for a party. He's a moron.

We shouldn't get this started again. There's an extensive thread about both sides of the fence already and there's no new news on the subject. I hope this quickly and quietly.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

You believe he's "remorseful" based on what?

So you see dogfighting as "natural selection?" Seriously?

The interview he did with Jim Mora Jr. on the NFL Network. I'm not so sure about how remorseful he is about the dog fighting, but I think he is remorseful about how he lived his life and wasted his talent, before he went to prison. I think he is a changed person.

And, whomever is coaching him on appearing remorseful in public, needs a bonus too... if Vick were a real actor, it's Emmy or Oscar good.

Familiar, by any chance with the expression: "It's a dog-eat-dog world." From where might that saying have its origins? Surely it's been around longer than Michael Vick and organized dogfighting as a gambling enterprise.
(1732) "Dogs are hard drove when they eat dogs" (Thomas Fuller, Gnomologia).
If the question is regarding organized dogfighting for gambling purposes, the answer would be "No", I do not see that as natural selection. If the statement is taken in the context of "Before humans interfered with natural selection through domestication of wild animals it was a dog-eat-dog world" then yes, it would be accurate in my opinion.

Good answer. I find that a lot more plausible then that after housing, funding and participating in dog fighting he actually connected that somehow what he was doing was evil and magically was suddenly over it. I still don't believe anyone that depraved was "cured" that quickly. But your argument he at least does regret his choices from the perspective of how it impacted his career is reasonable.

So I'm curious. Do you think you explained your connection of dog fighting and natural selection? Would a critical mind think you had presented a rational and reasonable explanation for why you had made that connection?

A critical thinker might research the origins and history of dogfighting prior to formulating an opinion. Those with predetermined dispositions are seldom swayed by tangible, substantive proof to the contrary. Critical thought requires some basis in fact, does it not? I think a person less inclined to argue every point or non-point might see if a differing opinion contains any merit. What is being argued here? The post? I think not.

I see. A critical thinker doesn't challenge people who pull statements out of their...tree stump....to make sense of what they said. They do extensive research and reflection to see if they can figure out why they said it and how it could have been right. Questioning someone is having a "predetermined position." Independently proving they were right is the way to keep an open mind.
Gotcha
"Gotcha" meaning I called it in the "alternate rules" forum....

You know, that's an excellent point. Maybe I've read so many mind numbingly incredible statements by the Skins bashing crowd I'm no longer recognizing which are serious.

I used to wonder if I was "the idiot" or not. Then one day it occurred to me that knowing if I was the idiot or not didn't in fact change if I was the idiot or not. Since it didn't change anything and it did in fact distress me to know I was an idiot, I stopped worrying about it figuring it was better that way. Besides, then a bunny hopped by and I went off to chase it and forgot about the question...

Vick is remorseful.. he's remorseful that he trusted the guys who snitched on him. He's remorseful because his kids can't have dogs anymore. Do I think he should have been executed? No, but like Vet said its been discussed and it doesn't matter anymore.
FYI.. rapists and child molesters should be executed IMO
