Priorities...
1. OL = LT C RG RT =We need 4 new Olineman thru draft of free agency
2. QB = we don't have a franchise QB, Brennan deserves a look
3. RB = we need a hungry young back
4. WR = Marko deserves more pt, Devin Thomas sucks, Malcom injured
too much
5. Coaching- HC = Shannahan, Cowher, Gruden take your pick

Except for the last throw, Campbell played well. Especially considering the effective 3 man rushes and constant nickel.
good playcalling to score more than 3 with that O-line
Play Betts
Play Mitchell
As noted in the past, Davis has questionable hands, and Moss has pathetic hands. As does Thomas. Again, Play Mitchell.
Do tackling drills all week and chew out landry.

All I know is that Vinny put together a playoff caliber roster this offseason. I don't see why this team can't get a win...!
Nice to see Betts doing well today!

i watched the first 15 minutes and found a way to beat my frustration at how this team is playing - it was close to 70 degrees in the NE and I went and played 9 holes of golf
I am very sorry to hear that Portis was injured I hope it's not serious but I'm looking forward to checking the stats out as I'm sure that will give me a clear picture of how things went today - I'm fairly sure there were not many highlights from what I've heard
I can tell you that the first 15 minutes showed how bad things are here - after a bye week to look that bad on defense, which is considered a strength, was a major indictment of how badly prepared these players are
and for the offense to look that bad after a week to get ready for this game was also a bad indicator - I'm sure most of you are aware this was a short week of preparation for the Falcons
I hope that the players and coaches are not going to start thinking and playing like the season does not matter - every game is important and each player has to play and practice as hard as they can - we are not seeing that effort from most of these guys

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

okay, to humor you - we get those guys but if the players you want are selected by the same guys that put us in this situation how is it going to make the team better? Cerrato has said recently that he feels that the team as assembled was a playoff contender .... I rest my case

try and think, before you post - just replacing players is not going to mean we are any better if the same guys that got us into this mess are making the decisions
SO you are wrong - before we do anything we have to get someone to come in and change a lot of things here, part of which will be the offensive line but there are a lot of changes more important than that

Agreed.
And the interesting thing is that the only position not listed there is a position we filled through FA for this year. OK, so we've lost 2 and a bit solid starters through injury, but we should at least be able to put a decent line out there.
It's just a positional area that's been neglected in (earlier rounds of) the draft for far too long.

I don't think it's Cerrato's fault
It was a calculated decision to address the defense last offseason
The oline was not ignored as much as it was counting on aging veterans, those veterans have let us down either through injury and/or poor performance
This offseason will give us a chance to solidify the OL and bring in young talent; you have to think our first rounder is an Olineman unless you have a chance at a FRANCHISE QB like Tim Tebow
Still the Oline needs so much help we might have to pass on a franchise qb just to get decent on the oline; Russell Okung out of Oaklahoma State would be a great start... you can replace Samuels and if Chris wants to keep playing Okung can handle RT.
Start with Okung in the 1st round
In the 2nd round you'd like to have the luxury of looking at a RB like Evan Royster PennState but of course we don't have that luxury...Get a top C G or T prospect
2 out of 4 of our oline positions of need can be met in the 1st and 2nd
rounds.
Let's say we get Okung and a G; I think a Center might be there in the 4th, and we're going to have to get at least 1 free agent starting OLineman

I watched the whole game. Here's my
:
Defense
- Until we stop playing soft, we won't get any better in the TO ratio or the passing defense. We're lucky we're as good as we are.
- Good God, put Daniels in rotation at DT and put Orakpo's hand down. I realize that a theory could be we're waiting for Phillip to retire so we don't sit him in the bench, but I watched Orakpo power thru two defenders for a sack. HE'S A FREAKIN DEFENSIVE END!!!!
- As huge of a supporter as I am of Landry, he needs to be benched until he can prove he's worthy of starting. His angles aren't getting any better and neither is his judgment. Put Moore in as FS and and rotate Landry in at SS if he earns it.
- Hall can sit right beside Landry. He won't tackle, he won't play. I don't care how much money he is given. Landry and Hall need to return to basics.
- Rocky got his first pick, and it was a good pick. He went up after it. He's still one of the only guys I won't complain about.
Offense
- JC didn't look bad considering the horrible o-line play. And give the man some credit for heart. A probable high ankle sprain AND a chest contusion and he's still in there. Kudos for heart.
- Sit CP next week and see what the backup RBs can do. It can't really be worse. It COULD be that since they are backups, Atl's D coord took them too lightly. I'm willing to to try anything that has worked.
- Marko did what he had to do. Let him keep going until he shows he doesn't deserve it.
- Bench Moss on O and let him do punts. You don't wanna catch those balls that hit you in the hands (even though the ball was late, it was catchable), be the running target. You aren't getting it done as a WR.
- Sellers had a good day. I cringe every time he tries to hurdle...someone that big isn't made to go over people, he's supposed to go thru 'em. Too bad he whiffed on the next play on that sack.
Other
- Since when does Alexander get called for roughing the passer, but JC can be bulldogged and it's a legal move...this is the NFL, not the WWE.
- Where is the discipline? Without discipline and killer instinct (Landry, but not out of bounds, and being able to tackle), we won't even beat the Raiders, who subsequently beat the Eagles who demolished us and the Gnats.
- Good bye Zorn. After that screen to Sellers on 4th&1 that we pulled off 2x already, you have to go. The only people that expected that play more than the fans was the Atl Defense.

Code: Select all
What does that even mean?
I'd say that the Redskins played more like a real team for most of the second half. They left themselves no room for mistakes, and they surely made one when Turner ran more than 50 yards for a TD.
Needs?
- A complete re-build.
- a general manager who actually has control
- a head coach who has the confidence of the GM
- an OL (Jansen, Kendall, Samuels minus five years?)
- receivers: Thomas and Kelley don't seem to be NFL starters. Moss needs a couple of tall WR's who can run.
- Enough defernse to pressure a passer without using the blitz
- about three years of work: two to rebuild and the third to compete
Salt on the wound
Ok, let's face it we are a bad team plain and simple. However, for guys to go out there and lose their cool like D Hall and Fat Al did was embarassing. I liked the intensity they showed coming out in the 2nd half, but too little too late. Can someone please find ARE punt return statistics, i'm pretty sure he may have not returned a kick all year.
Oh yeah, and Campbell, you sir are not clutch.
Good seeing Marko out there. Yoder, good job making something happen.
It's too bad during upset week we couldnt participate!

What exactly did Haynesworth do? He went over to support his defensive comrade(and he never got in the middle like the announcers want you to belive, I watched it 5 times to make sure)...regardless of who's right or wrong, you don't abandon your teammates. I was more pissed that it took as long as it did to have other Redskins over there. This is the core fundemental problem: no fire. There was a good 20 seconds where Hall was completely alone and no white jerseys were there in the camera.

Yeah, I heard the announcers say this, too, just today...
Tebow is a leader, but I highly doubt he's going to be an NFL franchise QB. Unless he's in Miami. No thxx

Yeah, they're not that hard to find out. Search the player's stats on the NFL site and use some simple observational techniques.

1 thought: LeRon Landry obviously wanted no part of Michael Turner, yet he went all out, hitting Matt Ryan late out of bounds. More and more each week, he reminds me of Roy Williams, who took the worst angles known to geometry and turned 6 yard stops into 30 yard scampers with regularity.
Gotta get better sometime, hogs.

Cowboys 7- Redskins 6 (All we needed was 2 minutes of the 60)

He pushed Ryan out of bounds, he didn't hit him. And Roy Williams was putting people out due to the rule named after him...hardly the same as late hits from Landry. You'll get yours at 8:30, bro, no need to come here and gloat.

Oooooooookaay...and what about the previous how-many-years of little or no o-line picks? Was that calculated too? Sure would like to have those picks for Duckett and Taylor back, eh, maybe for some o-line prospects?
Fact is, we have an amateur running the front office - and I don't mean Cerrato - and it shows.
Wrong thinking is punishable.
Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded.
You will find it an effective combination.

Yes, it can get worse and it very probably will.
How more disheartening can it be when we knew that the Bye-week was our last chance to regroup and salvage a few games in the next few weeks?
I seriously think that WHOEVER plays QB has a very high probability of being hurt behind this OL. I have had enough of Jason but I do not wish him to finish his career with a series of injuries.
This is getting to become so serious that I do not know who will finish the season and who will not.
Ah! and I have had enough of Mr. Medium. I want my next HC to be rather RAW and fire up his players. I was ready to mix it up when Hall was being beat up in the Falcons bench and Zorn is standing just up there as a granny would watch the sunset
I love Al Haynesworth. No more fat albert from me ...

JC can't be clutch because he's getting killed. Come on. I'm not going to say that he could have got us the win on his own with a good line but I would like to see it.
I spent the day with Steelers fans who have watched all the Redskins games. They live here in DC. They, as a group say that JC is not being used correctly. He's also not being protected and regardless of who's in there at QB, they would get killed.
