Eagles are going to be tough again this year

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

I think it's in Austin where beef is somewhat equated with bbq.

No, you didn't. In Texas, they think barbeque is made from beef.

Uh...considering I don't eat beef barbecue, and I had plenty of great pork barbecue in Dallas...you may be wrong.

Oh yeah, you are.

East Texas barbecue is an extension of traditional southern barbecue, similar to that found in Tennessee and Arkansas. It is primarily pork-based, with cuts such as pork shoulder and pork ribs, indirectly slow smoked over primarily hickory wood. The sauce is tomato-based, sweet, and thick. This is also the most common urban barbecue in Texas, spread by African-Americans when they settled in big cities like Houston and Dallas.

Ok, I'll give you East Texas, but from the same wikipedia article you can plainly read that Central, Southern, and West Texas all use beef as the main protein for BBQ. So, my "in Texas" reference was correct, for the majority of the state, if not for Dallas specifically. Besides, I consider Eastern NC's pulled pork with a vinegar-based sauce to be the best, so you can eat all the "tomato-based, sweet, and thick" pork BBQ you want to in Dallas, and I still say you are not getting the good stuff. My 2 cents

ROTFALMAO now that's on topic ROTFALMAO

well done JSPB
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I know that SkinsFreak thinks we will beat them this year and could even sweep them
I just think that the Eagles are going to be a formidable team this year and I will be very happy if we split with them.

this was originally posted in early May - I still think that this offense might be the best in the NFC East and the NFC is still looking like a step or two behind the AFC overall.

I do think they will miss Johnson - I mean that guy was a heck of a defensive coach but I just would not be surprised to see this team give the stupid team in NY a run for the NFC East title this year

People, do not fret about the Eagles. They are a mess. The offensive line is all hurt and can't get on the field. Best case scenerio the first time they will play together is opening day when Julius Peppers will be lining up agaisnt them. The team is quietly worried that Westbrook is done so they will be relying on the rookie kid they drafted. Macklin can't get on the field because he is in Reid's doghouse for holding out and Reid does not forgive. The defense is not that good now that they lost Johnson, Dawkins and Bradley. There is no heart on the team.

There are no good vibes surronding this team. In some ways, they signed Vick to distract everyone about their team.

Commentator Ray Didenger who is a highly respected football analyst here in Philly and is always fair in his assessments does not have a good feeling about this season either.

At this point, I could really see the Giants winning this division by 3 games over us and Dallas with the Eagles last.

And, Philly has NO good BBQ. There are a couple of good Soul Food places but there are no good Southern fat white guy BBQ places anywhere in this city.

Do people realize that since the 2004 season when the Eagles went to the Super Bowl there record is 33-30-1 with four playoff games. During that same period the Redskins have gone 32-32 with three playoff games.

It frustrates me to no end the way the national people love the Eagles and hate the Skins when in the last five years they have basically been the same team.

There is one difference however: Daniel Snyder continues to try and build a winner while the ownership of the Eagles continue to pat themselves on the back. This is why it will be such a great day when the Skins win the Super Bowl before the Eagles.

I'm glad you posted that stat. The Eagles have been getting plenty of love on THN, too. I posted some rankings done by JLC that had us last in the division, and everyone acted like that was obvious based on history.

But. . .it's not like we've been bottom feeders. Philly has been as mediocre, and one or two seasons we looked better than Dallas. There's not enough of a difference in performance to back up the disparity in media rankings.

Well I mean they did make it to the NFC Championship game last year. And they did get a lot better on offense with the addition of Peters at LT and 2 explosive rookies. But just like us, we'll have to see if they can translate all that to wins.

So the Eagles got the LT that lead the league in sacks allowed (Mr. Orakpo please take advantage of that!) and two guys that have never done anything in the NFL. They lost their best defensive player in team history and they lost one of the best defensive coordinators in NFL history ( RIP JJ).

They may be better on offense, but the Eagles have always gone as far as their defense would take them and it has been hit VERY HARD.

They most likely won't even reach double digit win!

The local media people here in Philly are a lot more realistic about this team than the national. They are confused why so many people think they are going to be great. Peters has been hurt and not working hard, the RT has never played there and has (I'm not being rude) mental issues. Westbrook is old and broken down and since the line is not what they thought it would be they will need to use him for more blocking than they would like. The Macklin kid has not performed like they have hoped so far. They gots issues.

Your argument is saying that McCoy and Maclin haven't done anything in this league because they are rookies. But then you are all about Orakpo(also a rookie who hasn't done anything in the NFL) getting the best of an Pro Bowl LT. So you basically contridicted yourself.

And you could argue that Dawkins was old and way past his prime. The more I think about it, the more I think they did right in not bringing him back. I mean he is 35. Expect him to struggle in Denver.

Losing JJ is definently a huge loss. It'll be interesting to see how they adjust to that.

I'm not saying they are going to win the division.. But don't write them off.

Jake Delhomme is horrible. Seriously...the Panthers were just slamming the ball down the Eagles' throat on the first drive. Then they thought it would be a good idea to let Delhomme throw the ball...and then the game was quickly over.

The panthers might not be very good but the Eagles will be a contender this year.

Seems like the Eagles are not going to miss Dawkins as much as some here thought and it looks like the defense will not be as good without Johnson but will still be a lot better than they were predicted to be by some here

all in all not a bad start for a team that many here thought would not be a contender in the NFC East
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
