I've never owned an I-phone, but recently got a Palm Pre
My cell phone is provided to me by work, and we use Sprint, so no AT&T for me.
I've had the Pre for about two weeks now, and I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't fully tested it's potential, but overall, it's been pretty good.
If anyone is thinking about getting one, but wants to ask specific things about what the phone can and can't do, I'd be more than happy to tell you what I know and try to do things I haven't done to see if it works.
For example. The phone comes with 8G of memory, and I know you can load your MP3's on it. I've heard you can use your MP3's as ringtones, but I haven't tried it yet (I've been to busy playing with all the other cool stuff)
I do wish it had more downloadable apps for it, but it's new, so there isn't a lot out there for it yet.
I can usually get through the work-day on a single charge, but if I'm watching a lot of you-tube videos or surfing the net a lot, it will burn up the battery quick.
It's got a 3mp camera, but I am really impressed with how clear and bright the photos are. There is no zoom feature, and it won't take videos, but it does take decent quality pics which you can then upload to facebook or photobucket.
If you have a facebook account, you can log in and it will download all of your facebook contacts into your phone.
Anyhow, if you are looking for a good phone, and you are limited to Sprint, I'd highly recommend giving the Pre a look.

Not too sure about that phone Bob but for the MP3's as ringers, sometimes it lets you do the whole song while other phones you'd have to cut the song down to I think it's under 14 or 13 seconds. Best way to check it is hit edit for someone's name and add a song as a ringer to it. I'm interested in knowing how that worked out. Later!

Okay, so here's the deal on mp3 ringers.
The Pre works like a basic mp3 player. Adding music is ridiculously easy! When you connect the Pre to your computer the Pre gives you three options. Sync media, usb drive. And just charge.
I tried sync media at first and it opened my itunes for some reason, but it wouldn't sync.
So I tried usb drive. You can put an mp3 anywhere on the Pre (it will create it's own drive) and the Pre's music player will find it.
There is already a folder called ringtones. If you put the mp3 in the ringtones folder, you can assign it as a ringer. You cannot edit where the ringer starts, it simply begins playing the file and continues as long as the phone is ringing.
Here's the best part; let's say you don't put the mp3 in the ringtones folder. You can still add it as a ringer and assign it. That means you can download an mp3 from an email or amazon.com music and turn it into a ringer without having to connect to your computer!
---this reply was entered entirely from the Pre. It's a little harder because the keyboard keys are so small but much better than using the mobile version on my old cell!
