I can't believe we signed him so quickly, pretty nice deal if you ask me.

Hopefully Zorn will get his head together and play him at his proper position.

Check the "link." Only two first-round picks have been signed yet, and I don't think anybody's itching to be the third soon. Hope that doesn't keep Orakpo out of camp, but it's still too early to tell.

Jarmon hasn't signed.

But then, by all appearances, Orakpo hasn't either, unless the OP has better sources than the rest of the NFL media combined and doesn't want to acknowledge it....

Anyway, the good news is that $42/6 is Chris Canty money, which would be a terrible deal for the team. Last year's #13, Jonathan Stewart signed for $20M/5. It's still too early to say what the bump is going to be like this year, but anything over $25/5 won't happen unless the 12 and 14 contracts happen first.

[edit: *would be terrible*. Paying Orakpo more than Carter will be ridiculous until he earns it.]

Sorry for spoiling the fun. News is too rare this time of year and I really wanted to see the contract numbers...

HAHA It's always fun to get people's hopes up just to have them come crashing down  Seriously though, I don't feel like dude is going to hold out so we will probably hear some chatter over the next few days about him signing. I just had to get everyone while the opportunity was a knockin.

r u serious about this?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

It is not like Carter has done anything. That is the way it is Rookie contracts are always ridiculous. No reason why we should break the trend and lowball our potential stud athlete.

I would much rather overpay Orakpo and get rid of Carter who has done nada.
