As a lot of people have pointed out the injury Jansen suffered 2 years ago is frequently followed by a sucking year. He's not that old and he's always been a great player. To be concerned about that we haven't addressed the future of the position is reasonable, but to say we have no one to start is premature.

Kazoo your right. I think about what Buges said. He said something like Jon went through a huge injury and ran out of gas. Jon is old though. He has mileage and injury problems. He has gotten in great shape though. He might be the answer for at least 1 year if we are lucky.

Jon Jansen, god love him is the type of player that you have to drag out of the league kicking and screeming. He would never accept defeat. That doesn't mean he's still good enough to start in the nfl. I hope my opinion is wrong.

He's one of the better QB prospects in the NFL. You should seriously go consider punching your Redskins pillow and leaving the rest of us fans alone.

i am not saying that.... but to have 42 picks from the third round on in the last 10 years and only have 2 starters... both of which were in the third round... and 7 contributors is a disaster. one could argue that in 36 picks over the last 10 years, from the 4th round on... we didn't draft even ONE starter. true or not true?

Eddie Williams...

One of Idaho's top receiving weapons all season, Eddie did it all for the Vandals. His primary position is H-Back, but it is common for Eddie to line up at split end, flanker or slot. He finished second on the team with 27 receptions for 329 yards and three touchdowns on the season.

This is the last thing that we need.

Redskins in the last 10 years have had 36 picks from the 4th round on and found ZERO... true starters. Not ONE!

Now, Scouts Inc. is just one perspective on these rookie prospects... but I find it a little odd that EVERY pick since the 3rd round is just unrated by them. They scout a TON of players during the season and to not even receive a draft pick you must be pretty obscure.

Still, he was really productive in college, voted team MVP, excellent character and leadership... he might be a solid pick.

Positives: Adequate upper and lower body build. Reliable hands, and can extend and snatch the ball outside his frame. Adjusts to low and high passes. Lines up outside, in the slot, on the line and as an H-back. Used on quick screens to get the ball in his hands. Always seems to find the hole in the zone to present a target. Sells the fake well, getting his head around quickly to find the ball. Lowers his pads to bowl over defensive backs and get extra yardage. Has some elusiveness and ability to break tackles in the open field. Fair release off the line, and uses his hands to free himself of jams. Good blocker downfield, getting his hands inside the jersey and sustaining with quick feet. Used on special teams coverage units and is able to wrap up or pound return men on the fly.

Negatives: Finding a position may be an issue. Below average height and strength to play tight end or H-back, but was not used as a lead blocker in Idaho's offense. Struggles to anchor or sustain blocks against defensive ends or bigger linebackers. Will cut block, albeit effectively, in pass protection instead of standing up to blitzers. Doesn't have the straight-line speed to threaten the seam or separate from NFL linebackers and safeties.

I like it, even though he's not been used as a lead blocker he seems like a good H-Back type. Maybe he can learn to lead block and such.

Overview

Williams looks like a fullback and plays like a wide receiver. His production (54 catches, 687 yards, six touchdowns) and leadership made him the team's 2008 Most Valuable Player. Whether it's at fullback or H-back, the versatility of the first-team All-WAC pick could make him a tough player to keep off someone's roster next September. What about off the top of my head, Horton, Golston, Montgomery, Cartwright, Heyer and Blades? Haven't they all started for us?

If you include this year's draft, since 2001 we have only drafted 6 offensive linemen. Of those, only one (Derrick Dockery) has amounted to anything. That is truly pathetic.
