Durant Brooks sucks........!!!

Brooks: "I Know I'm on the Line"
From Jason Reid

After his poor performance against the Saints, rookie punter Durant Brooks figures his job could be in jeopardy if he struggles again this week. "I know I'm on the line," Brooks said, "with probably guys coming in here and working out if I don't have a good game. Who knows what'll happen?"

Brooks, given the job after battling veteran Derrick Frost in the preseason, had a rough game, averaging 33 yards (with only a 5.5-yard net average) on two punts. Brooks's poor second punt late in the third quarter contributed to Reggie Bush's 55-yard touchdown that helped New Orleans take a 24-15 lead. Brooks also botched a hold on a short first-half field-goal attempt that place kicker Shaun Suisham missed.

Special teams coach Danny Smith told Brooks he has to "do better," Brooks said. "I know what I did, he knows what I did, [and] he knows it was a bad game. I've got to come out and have a good game and show improvement." Brooks, a sixth-round pick from Georgia Tech, won the Ray Guy Award as college football's top punter in the 2007 season. Brooks had a 40.6-yard net average as a senior, and a 42.8-yard average on 13 punts -- of which five were downed inside the 20 -- in the preseason.

"It's very difficult," Brooks said. "You have to wait a week for another game to play good. It's a good thing we have practice all this week to get a lot of punts in, a lot of work. Once I get going again, I think I could put it behind me."

Not JLC this time. It's Jason Reid. How about it?

A link would be nice and some credit to the source from which you pulled it...

Also, is that title your opinion or the actual title of the piece you're quoting?

I think Frosty clearly beat him out, don't you? Vinny just wants to be smug and keep his picks, that's all. Look, I do hope this Durant guys pans out for us.... That would be best.

Not to rain on your parade...

But lord Zorn stated that it was his choice and he elected to keep all of the draft picks...

And it's only been 2 games...

And I guess since other areas have improved many will move on to other areas.

And once Durant improves, people will complain about something else...

And did anyone know that Frost allowed a punt to sail out of his hands in through the back of the endzone last Sunday?

How many bad games did we have with Frost?

It may only be the second game, but I'm willing to give Brooks a little more time to adjust. Everyone gets at least one.

Frost was like that every preseason and then when regular season came, he was average all over again. He was a better tackler than a punter.

The worst thing about Frost is he'd invariably shank a punt at the worst times.

Come on, it's not like Frost was Ray Guy. He was at most, an average punter.

Just a snippet from the GB game:
Johnson scored on a 38-yard reception, Green Bay punter Derrick Frost let a snap sail through his hands, and Johnson had 47-yard TD to put Detroit ahead 25-24.

In Durant's case, we KNOW Frost is inconsistent and prone to shank at the worst possible time. Durant is young and has a lot of potential. Anyone who thinks dumping Frost for him's a bad move hasn't been paying sufficient attention.

I agree with the improve or remove approach. Keep it up and you will be gone basically. After two games too soon, but its better to take a percentage approach.

I'm prone to be more patient with a rookie punter as oppossed to a QB or Head Coach, a punter has to gain confidence and that only comes from experience both positive and negative, if the kid went the whole season punting great I would worry because in the playoffs he'd probably hit the wall, Reggie Bush was taking that one back no matter if it was Brooks or Frost that one was going back.

Did anyone else see Frosty mishandle the snap in the Packers/Lions game. While Brooks may not turn out to be good, I don't miss Frost. Remember, they guy is a rookie so he has the potential of getting better. He's facing adversity now and let's see how he handles it before booting him out the door like David Akers.

A thought provoking but demeaning insult against other posters whose only sin appears to be the expression of diverse opinions on a punter position.

Interestingly, the same statement can be equally re-arranged to read:

A fan who's accomplished a lot more than most of the rest. A FAN who in imparting HIS endless knowledge of how to run a football organization actually demonstrates only HIS complete lack of knowledge in running a football organization.

As opposed to "most other fans" who may express opinions which may or may not be shared by others and whose consequences are harmless to the future of the team, the opinion of this ONE fan has proven to produce nothing but a dismal record of failure in an endeavour he knows only precisely as a fan.

But let me address the main topic of the thread. I liked Frost as a person even if his performance was far from outstanding at times. His record this season has been good with his next team. Some might wish to recall the professional career of a certain pro-bowl kicker named Akers for a perspective on what might happen to us -again-.

I hope the new guy will perform well for us. He has all the tools to be a great player with us. He should also be given a decent opportunity to succeed before we have ourselves another Akers, or another Frost succeeding elsewhere.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I think Brooks will work out eventually, but I think the Skin's should find somebody else to hold for kicks. Let Brook's consentrate on punting only.
Why can't Todd Collin's be the holder? If nothing else the threat of a fake FG would be there.

Not time yet to worry about Brooks. He'll kick like he did it college or improve. It's BS that it's harder to kick in the NFL than other places. In fact, the conditions in the pros are better than they are in college.
