Well there's a Canadian that is very worthy of the shout out and so here it is...
Today the Canadian Equestrian team won silver in Beijing. The senior statesman of the team is a gentleman by the name of Ian Millar and he is the reason that the medal is so worthy of note.
This is Millar's NINTH Olympics... read that again if you have to... his NINTH Olympics... and he'd never won a medal until today. The 61-year old has actually been on the team since 1972 and would have TEN Olympic appearances were it not for the boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He's been World Champion a few times, and he's a very, very decorated rider, but olympic accolades have always escaped him.
Incredibly the Canadians and Americans were tied after the competition and they had to go into a jumpoff which the US won to steal a little bit of Millar's thunder. But after 9 cracks and 36 years of Olympic competition, it was fabulous to see Millar go home with some hardware.
