ESPN Radio Reports: Bengals & Broncos trade

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

ESPN Radio Reports: Bengals & Broncos trade

Post by BringThePain! »

Len Pastabelly reporting that the Bengals & Broncos are switching 1rst round draft picks....and sending Delta O'Neal to the Bengals....

This will be awesome... because most likely the Broncos will draft a RB and that means one less quality RB for Dallas to choose from

Good point. The Broncos and Pats are both looking at RB ahead of the Cowboys now. However, Dallas could work out a trade to move ahead of them. I love the draft.

True.... but that just means they'd be giving up something too ;)

also there's a chance that Detroit could take Jackson with that number 6 pick.... leaving probably the Broncos with K.Jones... and New England with C.Perry ... that leaves Dallas probably no RB worth a first round pick unless they go with G.Jones.... which would be a little high to pick Jones.... i guess will just have to wait and see.... It's just nice that with this trade.... it looks less likely that they'll solve there RB problems this year... which is good for us....

Denver will not draft a RB in round 1. They have Griffen who performed well for them last year and signed Hearst. They most likely moved up to go after whichever DT or WR falls. I would bet on Reggie Williams to replace McCaffrey but Wilfork may fall to this slot.

NE is the only team in front of Dallas that will take a serious look at Jackson or Jones at their current spot.

Detroit will take whoever is left between Taylor or Winslow Jr.. If they're both gone, that means Roethlisberger is available and they probably trade down (Pittsburgh?) to a spot where they might take Jackson.

some believe otherwise.....

TEAMS JOCKEYING FOR JACKSON

Word around the league is that the Denver Broncos flip-flopped with the Cincinnati Bengals in round one of the draft in order to put them ahead of both the Pats and the Cowboys in the hunt for Oregon State running back Steven Jackson.

We're hearing that the Broncos and the Patriots regularly have been ringing Jackson's phone as the draft approaches, and the Cowboys surely are interested in someone/anyone who can come in and carry the ball better than Troy Hambrick.

Kudos to the Broncos for getting value for cornerback Deltha O'Neal, the former first-rounder whose star had fallen so far in Denver that he was switched to receiver in 2003. Moving from No. 24 to No. 17 is great value for a guy whom they surely would've gotten rid of anyway.

Of course, there's hardly a guarantee that Jackson will be on the board when the Broncos pick at No. 17. The Lions could take him as high as No. 6, or the Patriots could use these second first-rounder (No. 32) to improve upon their spot at No. 21.

We're also hearing the Raiders are interested in Jackson, and if they trade down with the Redskins or another team, Jackson could become the guy they select.

If there right.... then Dallas might not come away from the draft, with the RB troubles fixed.... i guess we shall see...

Look at the source. The next time those clowns get something right will be the first.

Ask yourself why Denver would move up to that spot so long before the draft? If Jackson was indeed the target, NE has more than enough ammunition to leap frog them if they so choose.

I will buy the fact that Detroit might move down and get Jackson or Kevin Jones, but not at their current spot.

Myself: Self, why would Denver move up to that spot so long before the draft?

Me: Well, If they now control the number 17 spot, instead of the 24th.... they can A) either make another trade with whoevers in the 16th or below spot... because trading for a number 17th pick is more attractive than trading for a number 24th pick.... and B) they now have a better shot at getting one of the top 2 RB's....

If they waited, who know's if the Bengals would have traded that pick to somebody else.... if they did... the Broncos would be SOL...

Seriously.... RB is a needy spot for the Broncos... and now that they got rid of portis and anderson.... there not just gonna be content with Griffen....

They've also signed Garrison Hearst.

Look at who they've drafted over the years at RB and what they've found mining the later rounds for talent with some red flags. ( Davis/injuries, Anderson/age and program played for)

Why would they change a formula that's been so successful?

Would you like wager a friendly sig line bet? If Denver takes a RB in round 1, you make my sig line for 20 posts, and vice versa.

I'd be willing to bet that when it's Denver's pick and Steven Jackson is still on the board (This is assuming they don't jump into the top 5 and draft a Gallery or Manning or Fitzgerald), then they'd take him.... And maybe even as we get closer to the draft, maybe I'll add Jones to that bet too....

But for Now.... If Jackson is available... Then they'll take him..... and lets bump that sig thing up to 100 posts.... I'm sure you can do 20 in one thread.... So is it a deal?

Let's work out the exact parameters.

I'm willing to bet 100 post sigs that the Bronco's do not take a RB in the first round.

All posts must be in hog wash, around the league or smack forum. No busting out smiley's in the lounge or anything.

That's my offer. The "if" bets get too confusing.

BTW, 100 posts will probably take me until next off-seson.

No.... If Jackson is there whenever they pick I'll say they'll take him..... but I can't guarantee there gonna take a Kevin Jones over D.J. Williams.....

The Draft is un-predictable.... I can't bet there gonna take a RB in the first round if all the good RB's are snatched up before them.....and since the odds are in your favor, because I'm taking 1 position, and you have a chance of them taking a whole bunch of other positions they could take.... Then I just want to make it even.

So It's still the same bet as you proposed about them not taking a RB..... but I'm just trying to make it an even playin field....saying that if Jackson is available when they pick..... then they'll take him.....he's a RB and you said they wouldn't take a RB

Are we still on? It's ok if you want to shy away..... :D

I proffer a small wager, you refuse to accept it, yet I'm the one trying to "shy away"? :hmm:

What happens if NE moves up and takes Jackson? There'd be no bet?

Yes, thats right if New England takes Jackson ahead of Denvers picks then there's no bet.....

___________________________________
Your saying there's no way Denver will take a RB with there first pick....

I'm saying if Steven Jackson is there when they pick, they will pick him and HE'S A RB....
___________________________________

It would be INSANE for me to JUST BET that Denver would grab any RB in the first round.... with all the other factors of teams jumping ahead of him and them taking other position players.....That would put the advantage WAY in your favor.... I just want to even the playing field....

So, If Steven Jackson is on the board when Denver picks then they will take him..... You said they wouldn't grab a RB.... Steven Jackson is a RB....... If you decide that they will take Steven Jackson if he's on the board then your changing your mind that there not gonna take a RB.....

You are dancing around your own bet and want all the odds in your favor...... Jackson's a RB....you said they won't take a RB in the first round.....Why can't you bet on this? If you don't your backing away from your own bet that Denver won't take a RB....

Does anybody understand me?

You offered a lopsided bet!.......

do you know how to reason.... even with my bet the odds against you losing are less... I've got one shot at winning and that's only if Denver drafts Jackson..... You have like 21 other positions they could draft and I'd lose....

If you want to stack the deck, dance around and then hide under a rock... then be my guest.... I'm pretty much gonna guess there's no way your gonna do it anywho.... it's to risky for you i guess
