Trade down and draft Johnathan Vilma!! He is an animal, put him in the middle along with Washington and Arrington and look out!!

Bowen and Iffy are very capable of playing saftey well for us...with the proper coaching. I don't care what anyone says last year these guys on defense played for a coaching staff that was not ready for the bigtime.

So..you trade down, attain a second round draft choice along with the first, draft Vilma and a D-lineman in the second round. in the later rounds go after a blocker to play h-back for us.

What do you guys think??

I have to agree about trading down. But I don't know about picking up a linebacker if we trade down. I think Kevin Mitchell is very good. He only got benched because of a pro bowl linebacker. Remember when Trotter hurt himself two years ago. Kevin Mitchell came in and finished the season in that spot. I didn't see anything bad about his play in those last few games. I just saw him making tackle after tackle after tackle.

I think we need a tightend and d-lineman. That is where our team is the weakest.

Though it sounds good, I'm afraid that Vilma is a little undersized.... plus he had a big man in Wilfork infront of him taking care of his blocks.... we don't have a guy like that blocking in front of him.... plus I think there's a greater jump in talent (as in what we have now compared to what we could draft) if we drafted a Safety or D-Lineman rather than a Linebacker... Mitchell or Holdman should be capable of holding down the fort... and we would improve another area of weakness with that 5th pick.

Sean Taylor is bigger than Vilma. He is taller by 4 inches and outweighs him by 10 pounds. Plus he is a physical freak with his combination of speed and strength. He can cover guys 30-40 yards downfield and come up and stuff the run. He smacks guys who come accross the middle and intercepts balls that most guys can't get to. WHY PASS ON HIM???? If we wanted to we could put him at MLB.

If we trade down there is no way we use a first round pick on a LB. It will definitely be a DL. Probably either DE's Udeze or Smith in the 1st and Donell Washington DT Clemson or possibly Ben Watson TE Georgia in the 2nd. But as I said before...we cant go wrong with Taylor. Udeze could end up being a terror in the backfield in his first year in the league. He has great moves and a nice motor ala Bruce Smith in his younger days. Its just hard to pass up on someone like Taylor who has an opportunity to the best overall safety in the league.

I know that we dont have a 2nd round pick. That is why I said IF we trade down. We will only trade down if the offer is right. Which means a 1st and 2nd rounder.

actually... has anyone ever thought about moving sean taylor to mlb... its not a new concept, brian urlacher was a safety coming in to the league.. and lets see here, Urlacher,Brian 6'04'' 254, Taylor, Sean 6'03'' 225..... im sure he could put on alittle more weight, anyone have any idea how much urlacher weighed his first year in the league... its an interesting prospect when you think about it, even though i want to see this guy as a safety as well as anyone else, its worth thinkin about

Good point... Urlacker did play free safety before being porojected as an olb (isnt he a middle line backer now?) I guess its possible to make him play Lb but he really enjoys defencive back which would keep his play levle high.. not to metnion the man is very good at intercepting passes.

Vilma will be a better fit for Norv's Raiders. He'll have Ted Washington and Warren Sapp eating up all of the blocks.

I'm glad we are talking about someone other than Holdman. It definitely sounds like the fans want to see Sean taylor in B&G (me, too), but I, too, think Vilma would be a good addition. He's small, but very smart and a proven leader for the 'Canes.

I just hope Blache knows what he's talking about when touting Holdman as a must-have LB.

What if he still played Safety?? IMO if Urlacher did play safety, Offenses would change the Game :lol:

I just don't understand why you sign Washington so that you can move Arrington over to the weak side (so that he can make more plays), and then you go around and sign Holdman so that you can move Arrington back to the strong side so that you move Washington to the middle? Why ruin your first plan, which was ostensibly your best? (if I used ostensibly right)

Perhaps "the franchise"'s contract dispute still can potentially get ugly. Has Gibbs come out and praised Lavar for his skills and stuff. Yes, I'm sure they've talked, but Lavar was signed before the end of last season, when Spurrier was still here, and we needed a gimmick to sell more tickets and keep the team in the DC limelight.

I guess what i'm saying is Gibbs may not be as high on Lavar as Danny is, and he may be waiting for an arbitrator to rule in favor of the Skins in order to re-work a contract or release him.

Anything's possible.
