Rumour: Bears cut Tank Johnson...

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

This guy obviously has a lot of problems, but let's not kid ourselves: we need him.

The Redskins should absolutely inquire about picking him up.

You've got to be kidding me, what good can possibly come from introducing someone that problematic to the clubhouse?

Evidently, the Bears organization has a different meaning for the word "changed". :)

IF, IF, IF, IF he is cleared of any wrong doing in his latest arrest. I'd take a look at him.

However, I know that we won't.

Hmmmm, maybe not on 2nd thought.

Folks, he's suspended for the first EIGHT games next year and he has to apply to be reinstated, that's not even a given and I'd go so far as to call it unlikely. Lord knows I'm on record as supporting exploring all options but this would be a bad signing, especially when you consider Goodell has established himself as a no-tolerance disciplinarian. Johnson has a proven inability to make sound decisions, the recent DUI came ONE day after the Bears final OTA, after the organization went out of its way to show support for him. I don't care how minor the offense might seem, in this kind of scenario Johnson should have been cautious to an extreme degree.

he's a good guy, and i think part of this has to do with just making stupid decisions based on how his coach, lovie smith, decides to treat his team. lovie smith is a players coach, much like Norv Turner, and while he has the utmost respect of his players, there are some instance in which they feel they can take advantage of his kindness and understanding. I think if Tank were to come here and play for coach Gibbs and coach Williams, he would have a severe reality check and really turn around his act. if you look at the past few years with gibbs at the helm, how many of our guys have gotten arrested for stuff, besides sean taylor? even with sean, he has changed his act off the field, although he's still a menace on it. I'd say we take a look at Tank Johnson and see if we can't sign him for the vet-min, especially since he'll be hungry for a spot on a team to prove himself. and maybe a big mac.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Hail to the Redskins!

Apparently, some fans just don't get it.

Yes, we absolutely need a criminal thug on the team... good for jersey sales among the gangsta's ...

i'm still pissed we didn't get a d-lineman in the draft, or FA. tank is better than all but grffin on our line.

that said, i still wouldn't even look his way. too much bagage.

Well to play devils advocate: What GOOD can come of it... how bout:

Quarterback pressures
Sacks
Push from the line
More run stopping skills

But.. i pretty much do agree. i think it could be a bad idea, and probably would say to pass myself, but it is intriguing.

He would presumably do those things, he'd have no experience with the system and no game-speed reps, you'd have to insert him halfway through the season, disrupting whatever cohesion you might have while demoting a starter for a guy who wasn't available because he can't keep his nose clean. I just don't think that sends a very good message.

What are we?

a) The vacuum cleaner of the NFL.

b) Criminals Anonymous.

c) Compost bin.

d) All of the above.

There have been many potentially bright NFL careers wasted because you can get the thug out of the hood but can never get the ...

Not gonna happen, at all.

Guys, he is an all around bad egg. Clearly a troubled individual. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Besides that, he's not even THAT good of a player. Looked pretty good when Tommie Harris was next to him, was anonymous when he had Alfonso Boone et al there.

he sounded like it when i heard his apology and i read an interview with him, besides he wasnt totally intoxicated when he was pulled over, i think it was something like barely over the limit for arizona. im sure if the skins gave him 1 shot he wouldnt get into trouble

Hopefully nobody! I think if any team picks him up and he gets into any sort of trouble at all, the NFL should hit that team with a loss of a top pick or something similar. I think also that Goodell should reinforce the warning to teams that they will be responsible if they draft, trade or pick up players who have demonstrated little regard for the NFL image.

This guy should not be allowed on the field.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Not looking for players in the NFL with character issues is like not looking for Rosie O'Donnel at Denny's, Its just not realistic. Although this guy might be a stretch. If he didn't have the suspension then at least he might be able to play despite all his issues. But eight games is alot. If the price is right they might wanna pull the trigger.

I'd take a shot on this guy. I don't think he'd cost that much and he has a world of talent and hes young and he plays a position that we suck at.

That sounds like a gamble worth taking IMO.
