Americans aren't losing their jobs to illegal immigrants because of "slave wages", the illegals are picking up these jobs because Americans find that kind of work for that kind of pay beneath them. "Slave wages" is a contradiction in terms when the one earning them does so willingly and eagerly.
What I said was "Americans would be glad to do those jobs if illegals didn't for what we consider slave wages and legal immigrants could do them just as well as illegal."
So I said "what we consider slave wages" not "slave wages." In the context of what you said, they are willing to do them for those wages and they are therefore by definition not slave wages. What I said was most Americans won't do that work for those wages, not that Americans won't do that work. Obviously as libertarians we would both disagree with the minimum wage, but I covered that too with "legal immigrants would do them just as well as illegal." So those jobs going empty doesn't justify illegal immigration since we can satisfy it with legal immigration.
In the case of liberals it is a double standard, they use illegals working below minimum as a justification for illegal immigration, that would be the minimum wage they demand. If we are going to have a minimum wage, why hurt Americans by only applying it to people here legally while allowing illegals to come and work for less? That stuns me.
So I'm not seeing that we actually disagreed. Like I said on the joke, it's just been done and done and done. Got it, it's funny that Americans won't work for the wages of illegals. Ha ha. OK, I get it now.
