Going back to RFK
NBC4.com reports that talks are in the works with Danny Boy about building a new Stadium once the Nats move in 2008. The new stadium would have a dome on it and would make Super Bowl eligible which is Danny Boy's dream.
I like the idea to go back. Fed Ex has never felt like home. The only thing I do not like is a dome. Football is an outside sport. I miss going to RFK and the Stadium shaking. It would be nice to put the Redskins back in DC.

The end of the article is kind of sickening. TEAR DOWN FedEx Field?
That is the largest stadium in the NFL and will be only around 10 years old at the time of the tear-down. The move, if it happens, would be very interesting. I don't know what to make of this yet.
As of now, I think it is all talk.

I almost hope they build another stadium because Fed-Ex sucks. Ravens stadium is so much better.
1. Design it so it looks better, Fedex is bland.
2. Add noise amplification. Ive been to Skins/Ravens preseason games that sounded louder than regular season fedex games.
3. HD Jumobtrons.

I would love to go back to RFK!!! There is nothing worse then driving across that gosh dang bridge or cutting through the city just to avoid that gosh dang bridge! Getting High Def jumbotrons would be a nice bonus too!
The only thing that I don't like is the dome! We should do the retractable roof! That way we can play our games in the elements and close it on up for the Superbowl!

Having watched games in both stadiums, I also would like to see a Redskins game in an atmosphere like we had at RFK. I would be surprised if it were not a retractable roof stadium though.
If Snyder can get himself a new stadium, I'm sure it will be incredible, to say the least.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

A dome would not be the atmosphere like RFK. I think its a retarded idea and it won't happen.
"Evans said a new stadium on the old RFK site might be just what the team with a current record of 3-6 needs."
Oh yeah, that's all we need. We'll be fine after that.
If it does happen, sweet $400 LL's and $200 upper decks!!!!

It would have to be a retractable dome with a grass field -- like the setup they have in Arizona.
And no more than 80,000 seats. I still think 72,000 is optimum, but they can make 80 work.
And take a good three years to build it RIGHT. JKC wanted his stadium up before he died so speed was of the essence -- and when you build fast, you have to build simple.
And that's what stands in Landover ... a simple monstrosity with terrible seat locations, parking and access.

Fantastic idea!!!! The Washington Redskins need to be in the city of Washington. Plus most assuredly, the new stadium would be a retractible roof stadium. Snyder dreams are to host a Super Bowl and championships for our beloved Redskins. How sweet would that be to go to our own Super Bowl!!! I am all for it...bring it back to DC, still with the biggest stadium in the NFL and a much prettier dome that stays more open than closed...its should only close for the Super Bowl or a very, very bad rain storm...Let' Bring it Back!!!!

I don't get it. Aside from the lureof being back in D.C., what does Snyder gain? Does a SuperBowl justify the millions (if not billions) of dollars he'll spend on a new stadium? It just doesn't seem to add up to me.

i think there was a post about this a while ago. In it they mentioned about how the land that FEDEX Field is on is really valuable in the real estate market, so that would probably be the reason for tearing it down.
I don't see it happening though. I believe RFK is owned by D.C. so the land that Snyder would be building on wouldn't be his own. Therefore parking and other commisions would go to (or at least a portion) would go to the city. I think that's why they're pushing this news onto the media, trying to get fans behind it.
I doubt Danny Boy would go for such a scheme considering he'd be losing a lot of money if he were to go through with it.

Losing money? Danny will never allow that. You see he is getting so rich at the expense of all of us. Someone needs to meet him in an alley and whoop him for the sorry signings he has brought here. I think he should be publicy beaten for AA alone, and Andre Carter, please he should be ho kicked and bitch smacked!CcHhDd wrote:i think there was a post about this a while ago. Here's the video posted by a member of ES.
I love Jim Vance's verbal slapping of Jack Evans at the end, for the idiotic comment he made about the Skins being "losers" (implied) at FedEx.

Back and better than ever!
Baltimore has the model and I don't think it to be far-fetched for Snyder to try to follow that model by moving the team back into the city. Pro sports stadiums easily accessible via metro and close to downtown hub-bub. It's perfect. If anything, Snyder will probably wait to see what is going to happen with the area around RFK in terms of other activity happening around it.
Baltimore got lucky with the Inner Harbor right there and Fells Point not to far from their stadium locations, plus light-rail stopping right at the feet of those stadiums don't hurt either.
The real question, though, is what becomes of FedEX Field if the Skins are not playing in it??? Maryland Football is not big enough yet and I don't think that they would want home games to be off-campus anyway.
