Gibbs is making me sick!
When i saw his press conference, he sound like he had just gotten back from a funeral. how he said he felt sick to make the decision to bench makr and that he felt sorry for brunell.... then says it was the hardest choice he had to make....kept going on and on........... didnt sound so thrill about playing CAMPBELL! i mean u gotta a QB starting his first game in the NFL and u gonna sound like somebody had just died?
ok maybe that aint the big problem here. my main problem is how he kept saying it was a hard decision to bench brunell and yadda yadda yadda but had no problem benching RAMSEY. now im not saying RAMSEY wouldve done better or worst but if GIbbs definition of giving a player a chance is a quater and half, u gotta be the biggest hypocrite on earth. Ramsey after getting close line came out for a play, was given the OK to go back in but Gibbs kept brunell in there. then after the game, in which we scored like 13 pts i think, he names brunell the starter. i mean are u freaking serious? now u have brunell this yr not producing on many occassions and he kept brunell in there as long as possible when infact, he clearly had the Balls to remove RAMSEY with no remorse. when ramsey was demoted, he didnt have a press conference where he sound like he just got back from a funeral. he was elated that brunell was starting and thats the fact.
illl stop talking for now.

Lest we forget Brunell was the QB on a playoff team last year. Ramsey is where? Ramsey has done what? You are comparing apples to roadkill.

oh! and welcome to the site - hopefully you will be better soon

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I take you've been slap in the face recently? 3 post all anti-Brunell same people that you're ask are they serious were saying the same things for the past who knows how long, Mark went to the bench and they've moved on. You just joined the site (welcome by the way) and right off the bat you're on the attack. You can attack the post but not the post-er.
Or take it to the smack forum.
You might want to visit the welcome wagon and check out the rules before you start breaking them.
Enjoy the site and get pass Mark if we are lucky we'll never need him under center again

another anti brunell post?
is it me or people here dont read. one u made it anti brunell thread not me.
if u read carefully, i clearly state that "now im not saying RAMSEY wouldve done better or worst....," but Brunell wasnt even the point of my post. the topic was Gibbs. u know, if u paid attention and read carefully , u would know that i was expressing my feeling towards how bias Gibbs is and showed no joy during his press conference toward JC starting. maybe u havent seen the press conference. thats not my problem. it boggles my mind how u thought this was an anti brunell thread by reading my initial post. what is this world coming to?

You mentioned Brunell more than twice the times you mentioned Gibbs, you're the sick. I'm just saying maybe you're trying to treat the wrong illness
And if was Mark then you should be up and about in no time

kimaster, if you knew ANYTHING about Gibbs you would know that he HATES to bench a QB for non-performance. If you think you're a Redskin fan, go back and read up on what happened in the 80's. I guarantee you'll understand what's really been going on here.
I swear some kind of remedial education regarding Redskin history should be mandatory for posters here.

Ramsey had much better stats and win loss redskins than has Brunell, even though he had far worse receivers. In our slavish need to think Gibbs fair and wise, too many of us denigrated Ramsey and shut our eyes to the Brunell disaster.
Ramsey's now playing behind a guy already established with the Jets and having a fine year. Tough, for Ramsey, but not reflective of any fault of his. If Campbell turns out to be a bum who can't play, Gibbs will get toasted for getting rid of Ramsey, as well as for other things.

Personally I think that we sometimes give too much credit to Gibbs and sometimes I think we do not give enough.
I think Gibbs is an outstanding coach but a very mediocre team president. I think that his expanded role with control over personnel decisions was a bad idea. I am convinced that the personnel decisions he made have affected -- directly or indirectly, consciously or unconsciously -- the personnel decisions he has made as a coach.
Parcells is famous for the comment that if you expect me to cook the meal you have to let me shop for the groceries. I disagree. Part of the genius of being a chef is making the most out of what you have. It forces you to deal with the reality. Once you buy the groceries, you feel like you need to use everything you bought. But if you just open the refrigerator and ask "What do I have to work with?" you can see things a lot more objectively.
All of the "Fire Gibbs" guys should stop and consider that maybe if he had a general manager -- maybe if devoted all of his energy out of getting the most out of what he's got (rather than thinking about what he'd like to have once the free agent signing period starts, or thinking about how the guy he signed SHOULD be performing better), then maybe he would be more effective than he has been this year. Just a thought.
And all of the "Give me Gibbs or Give me Death" guys should stop and think about how his role has changed this time around -- and whether that might be related to the bottom line in the second stint. Just a thought.

Good post... I agree.
I have either read or heard through the media (WP, ESPN and 980) that the coaching staff lacks confidence in both backup options (JC & TC). This could be why Gibbs seems less than enthused about the change.
The whole topic started with..."Why was Gibbs so sad about benching Brunell"
Would it been better if Coach Gibbs did an interview happy and corking a champagne bottle for benching his starting QB? Let's be real...Coach Gibbs is about as class guy as you will find in life. Of course he's sad, he is sad for the human side of sports, like this maybe the end of a career for a quarterback who had a pretty good career in football. The same guy who went to battle for him last year and turned in a very reputable season for him with very impressive numbers that included a Redskin beat down of the most hated Cowboys and a playoff run that had even our most hated critics talking about Redskins football and the potential. I would only hope my head coach shows me respect and sincerity after I have been a model citizen and player for him...

People, people calm down on the newbie. Let's be civil around here.
First of all, welcome to the site young man (the chatroom spelling gives you away).
Second, people, this is not an anti-Brunell thread. If anything it is an anti-Gibbs thread. But I am not sure. The kid is only saying that Gibbs press conference made him sick. He (the kid of course) just needs some medication. That's all.
Third, changing QBs that -he- picked is something Joe does very reluctantly. It took -ages- to get rid of Theisman or Williams once it was eveident that they had absolutely nothing else to offer this team. Why would this be different?
Would you not be sad if you had to dump somebody that has fought his guts out for you under very difficult circumstances over two and a half years? You may win and lose some but the friendship and gratitude (even if Mark has nothing to offer anymoreare) are still there , at least from Joe and some of us fans. Are you still reading? Good. Fix yourself and cherish every second that we have Joe as a coach.
Let's hold the celebration until Jason Campbel gives us good reason for it.

I agree with all of that. Gibbs got into the HOF as a coach, not a GM. His personnel moves so far have resulted in mixed success, at best.

I understand what you're saying, and agree that one person being coach and GM is a bad idea, but I also agree somewhat with Parcells, and the coach should have some level of significant input into personnel decisions. Most coaches tend toward certain philosophies and tendencies - ball control, deep pass first, West Coast offense, etc. Obviously, certain players are going to do better in one system over another, and a GM and coach have to be in sync with each other, so a coach isn't forced to try to jam a square peg in a round whole.

Wrong on the culinary part and wrong on the analogy too.Snout wrote: Part of the genius of being a chef is making the most out of what you have.
The best chefs in the world either buy the ingredients personally or supervise meticulously what was purchased to prepare any meal -before- it enters the kitchen. This is an international cook typing here.

I love this game. Crazyhorse always says this crap, and is always wrong. Interestingly enough, both Brunell and Ramsey played in 34 games for the Skins.
Brunell: 34 games, 542 completions, 951 attempts, 57% completion. 38 TDs, 20 INTs, 4 lost fumbles.
Ramsey: 34 games, 480 completions, 861 attempts, 55.7% completion. 34 TDs, 29 INTs, 3 lost fumbles.
Man those are much better stats!!!

I took a glance at the stats for W/L record, and totaled numbers for each game in which Ramsey or Brunell was the main quarterback (I did this by a quick check on attempts per game. . .any time it looked like Ramsey or Brunell was the main QB, I counted it. I did not count any games where Brunell and Ramsey split significant time, as the W or L wouldn't change the overall ratio of W's to L's). Here are the numbers I came up with:
Ramsey was the main QB in 23 games as a Redskin, and he had a record of 10-13. (43% win average)
Mark Brunell was the main QB in 33 games as a Redskin, with a record of 15-18. (45% win average).
