Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

 NFC FREE AGENT MOVEMENT

Updated: Tuesday, March 3, 2004 (8:00 pm)

Chicago Bears

Signed RB Thomas Jones (Buccaneers) to a 4-year contract. Terms undisclosed.

Signed QB Jonathan Quinn (Chiefs) to a 2-year contract. Terms undisclosed.

Released LB Warrick Holdman.

Monkey :moon: Dallas Cowboys Monkey :moon:

WR Keyshawn Johnson is another step closer to joining the Dallas Cowboys. Sources close to the situation said Johnson and the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a restructured deal that is incentive laden. It would pay Johnson about $25 million over five-years. The only remaining glitch appears to be the Buccaneers slow negotiations with WR Joey Galloway, whowould be sent from the Cowboys to the Buccaneers for Johnson. The Buccaneers have been open to receiving a draft choice from the Cowboys for Johnson, but since they only have five picks in the draft that maybe unlikely.

Detroit Lions

Released S Corey Harris.

Green Bay Packers

Re-signed OT Chad Clifton to a multi-year contract. Clifton, who was previously tagged as the team's franchise player, will sign a six-year,$32.4 million deal that includes an $11 million signing bonus.

New Orleans Saints

Re-signed UFA LB Derrick Rodgers to a three-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Philadelphia Eagles

Agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent DE Jevon Kearse (Titans) on an eight-year, $66 million deal.

Brooks will essentially earn the same $5.5 million he was scheduled to make this year, but it will be distributed differently. The Buccaneers reduced his base salary to $1 million and
guaranteed the difference ($4.5 million) in a signing bonus. Thus, his cap charge for 2005 and 2006 go up by about $700,000 each season. $750,000 was also added to his base salary for 2006. The team will likely be forced to restructure his contract again next spring, as he'll have a cap hit of $9.657 million. His base salaries are $10 million (2007), $11 million (2008) and $12 million (2009).

Signed free agent FB Greg Comella (Texans). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Signed free agent TE Dave Moore (Bills). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Signed free agent OLT Derrick Deese (49ers) to a multi-year contract. The contract is a six-year contract that could be worth as much as $15 million. It includes a $2.5 million signing bonus. Deese will earn a total of $5 million between the signing bonus and base salaries in the first two seasons.
