I Know ppl have jokes about this guy but I loved his work, his movie and his passion... I followed him closely and am very sad to see him pass away.

This is truly heartbreaking. 44 is too young for anyone, especially a man with two young kids and such a strong purpose in life. I'm going to say a prayer for him and his family.

I saw someone post this on MySpace and I didn't believe it at first but it's all over the news.

Everyone joked about this guy and so did I but I am actually sad.

He may have made plenty of dumb decisions (the baby incident) but he seemed like a good-hearted guy with good intentions for his work.

RIP Steve.

Yeah I too followed him very closely and its just terrible news. I always loved watching his shows and I even bought his movie (a bit cheesy but wanted to support him) He had a great purpose in life and its just a shame for him to die in such a freak accident.

Talk about ironic. The guy goes face to face with sharks, snakes, crocs, and any number of poisonous critters that they have Down Under - and then gets killed by a stingray. I'm no expert, but I doubt that the thing that killed him was in the top fifty dangerous creatures that he dealt with.

I couldn't help but laugh at his over the top style, but you had to love his enthusiasm. He turned a lot of people on to natural history that just don't get the David Attenborough approach, and he'll be much missed.

RIP Steve.

I'm glad he died doing while doin gwhat he was most passionate about.

It would have REALLY been tragic for him to have died in a car wreck or a plane crash.

Very sad, but look at it this way.

The guy died while doing something he loved doing.

I, for one, hope I go out the same way.....while doing something I love doing. There are a lot worse ways to die, ya know?

I heard last night that Stingrays have been the cause of about 17 deaths in the last 100 years! :shock:

Apparently, he was filming a documentary called "Ocean's Deadliest". That's irony.

My 5 year old daughter was sitting with me when they broadcasted the story on the news. She loved him and his kids show. She cried for about 30 minutes. She really loved him. Very, very sad. We'll miss him greatly.

The ironic part is that they said he ripped the barb out and then died. The removing of the barb is what causes the damage. I wonder if he'd have left it be and gotten to a hospital if he could have survived. Sad freak accident. :-(

Sounds like he tried to be a little Chuck Norris following the sting and failed.

Again, at least he died doing what he loved (meaning, working with animals, not getting speared through the chest). Thanks for the memories, Croc hunter.

The poison probably would have done him in if he had left it there.

Of course it's hard to think when you're foaming at the mouth, and your heart has stopped. I'm amazed he had the ability to even yank the stinger out. My 2 cents
