Arrington out of afternoon workout Wednesday, June 14, 2006 By MIKE GARAFOLO Star-Ledger Staff
The Giants showed off their new $35 million toy this morning when free-agent LB LaVar Arring ton lined up on the strong side.
This afternoon, Arrington was on the stationary bike, peddling while the rest of his new teammates practiced. Advertisement
Arrington, who missed parts of the last two seasons as a member of the Redskins because of knee in juries, was inactive this afternoon.
Arrington did not speak to reporters between practices and coach Tom Coughlin was not scheduled to address the media after practice, so it was unclear why Arrington was inactive.
The team expects to update his status after practice.

'gush...it's Lavar. He can't wipe his butt without hurting himself.
I hope the Giants love their new part-time Linebacker, part-time cheerleader/fulltime headache.

What a troll post. I liked and respected Arrington when he was a 'skin, and I hope he does well as a Giant (except when they're playing us). People who hate anyone not in the Burgundy & Gold need to remember that such 'skins greats as Art Monk once suited up as Eagles and Jets. Riggins was a Jet at one time too. I still admire and respect Monk and Riggins, and I wish no ill on Lavar.
Grow up.

Riggins retired a 'Skin. We aquired him from the Jets. Monk is another story. I wish he had also retired a 'Skin, but that was simple economics. Many great players tried for one or two more seasons with another team. It rarely works out. LaVar is in the prime (age-wise) of his career. It is apples and oranges, my man.

I didn't mean for it to sound like any one person in particular, just a lil ribbing. But it seems some people are still a bit sore.

Oh cry me a river.
Who said I dont respect him? I was making fun of the people who were going to come to his defense. Nowhere in this thread have I said anything negative about him.
It seems that you have some Lavar issues that you need to iron out. Im sure on 12/30/2006 he'll sign an autograph for you while riding his stationary bike on the sidelines.

I though the Skins signed Monk so he could appear on the roster and "officially" retire as a Skin ... or not. TCWest10 or Welch will know.

Yeah, I think he did. I was talking about how he played the final year and a half of his career for other teams.

That is correct.
Lavar can't be mentioned with Art and Riggo when you look at how they departed the team. that's what makes some take shots at LA. I'm not going to take any shots at him and I won't say I told you so to those that it will be directed to when I do. And I will, I'll wait until he misses his 4th or 5th game before I sink that low.
For all we know the Gints maybe bringing Lavar along slowly and had planned all along to only have him working in one session per day.
i not going to wish him any harm but I'm not going to wish him well either. I hope he gets healthy but I doubt it.

When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hold on....
I am a great, great fan of Art Monk, but I don't pretend that "Mr. Redskin" departed Washington under sunny skies. He was bitter and angry at not having the opportunity to compete for a starting job, and made overtures to the perceived disrespect that the quote-unquote "mature athlete" can expect, despite past contributions, when a coaching/schematic change is made.
I will say this, though. When Art went to play for Pete Carroll in New York, he was widely quoted in all the interviews as saying, "I'll always be a Redskin" while wearing the colors of his new team...and when he went to play for the Eagles, he would not sign until the season series with Washington had passed. In other words, not even being overlooked and passed on by his only NFL team for 14 years caused Art Monk to turn his back on us. He stayed true to his fans, and accepted the token retirement on our behalf. This is not to say that the Jets or the Eagles got less than 110% of his efforts. It just never occured to him that when a guy leaves his team, he's obligated to run his mouth against it.
Now, then. Don't ever, ever mistake Lavar Arrington for Art Monk.
Art didn't bitch his way out of a contract...and Lavar will never be a Hall Of Famer.
Questions? Comments?
Good, 'cause I got a lot of feelings about this...and I will go to the mat.
