I gather you're just making a sarcastic remark, but the issue never was "core Redskins" with our dearly departed. Case in point:
Smoot wanted to be made the highest paid corner in the league -- he's just not Champ;
Pierce wanted mega-millions -- this coming from a guy warming the pine and playing special teams before Barrow got injured;
Clark wanted big bucks -- we made him an offer, presumably pretty good, but he wants mega-millions and willing to leave the only team that ever gave him a chance to start;
Lavar paid us 4mill to let him go; and the list goes on.
Our "core Redskins" were guys like
Brunell, Jansen, Springs, etc. that restructured contracts (without loosing a dime, I might add) so the team could bring in some more talent.
