Hognostication format options for the Playoffs

Choose the format for Hognostications for the Playoffs. I am still waiting to hear from Texas Hog and Boss Hog on this issue. But you can vote anyway.

All scores have been reset to 0 - 0. One and all registered posters are welcome to participate regardless of whether you played in these threads before or not.

This is JUST AN EXAMPLE (a good one though )as to how a "tree" -and/or- a weekly pick would work. For a "tree" only ONE set of Hognostications is made before the first game this week, such as:

Posters picking losers could be quickly, perhaps as soon as after the first round week, out of the competition entirely. It is a high stakes approach.

If not, then, I vote for both of the ideas. That way, I can continue my late season tear, into the post-season, much like the Skins will beginning on Saturday.

I see a few problems:

1) We would have to have the top 12 onboard. I am not sure we do.

2) Who is NFC and AFC?

3) What will you do with score ties?

4) I already have quite a bit of stats to do if -both- broad approaches suggested in the poll are actually chosen.

Let me make a suggestion:

Why don't you take the idea, recruit the 12 top posters, do the NFC/AFC seeding, use my weekly stats for results, and YOU lead that as a separate THN Posters Playoff thread?

If as I suspect from his previous post Texas Hog produces both, I am quite happy to do the stats for both. We have worked as a team throughout the year and it would be a pleasure to do so again during the playoffs.

Actually, it might be possible to automate and develop a Hognostication table each week to take care of the stats automatically throughoutthe season next year. Let me see what I can do about it. I am not sure if there is already an example anywhere in the web that somebody can point me to.

I suspect that this would not be difficult to do with Visual Basic. Please let me know whether you feel that it might be acceptable to add it to the website as an offseason project for next year.

I disagree. No one knew there would be a prize for the "Top Hog", if you will, until week 13. Personally, I'd like a shot at redemption (no pun intended), especially NOW, since I have to carry around this daggone sig line. As I contended here, had I known there would be a prize to begin with, I would have put in a lot more effort to win. I'm assuming others feel the same.

Now, while there is no (announced) prize for this "Super Bowl", I think it would be nice to see the top 12's "A-games"
on display throughout the playoffs. As always, bragging rights would be on the line.

I also suggest including a combined points total as tiebreakers in the competition.

Why did you not use the the last -adjusted-score that counted for the FINAL rankings in the seeds for the "playoffs"?

The adjusted score was actually the FINAL result according to all of our discussions.
