After G-men Game, How Good Do You Feel
Just curious about how everybody feels about the Skins after the Giant's game. Personally, I think it was just a bad game. The Giants had a death in the family, his granddaughter belted out a great National Anthem and then the emotion/empathy took over. The Giants had an extra home game this year. After the 49'ers and Viqueens, they actually have a tough schedule - including playing the Skins in DC. They Giants are good, but not THAT good. Frankly, I'd toss the tape in the trash and start over. Philly, Tampa, Oakland, San Diego up next in consecutive weeks...
One good week, followed by a pukingly pathetic week doesn't sum up the season for me. I'm chaulking it up to an out-of-body/team experience last week and betting the Skins knock snot bubbles and soup outta the Eagles!

skins are going in the right direction... other than this past game, they fight every minute under gibbs... they'll lose to the eagles, sadly, but they will play better... i have no doubt in that.
May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.
I still think we are the most balanced team in the league even if we are not the best. We play excellent offense and defense and we can run and pass the ball.
In the Giants game we couldn't do any of these things. I think that has to be an abberation. I think next week will show us a lot. We have to win at home and beat the teams we should be beating and we'll make the playoffs. Look at the upcoming schedule:
vs. Philly
@ Tampa Bay
vs. Oakland
vs. Chargers
@ Rams
@ Cardinals
vs. Cowboys
vs. Giants
@ Eagles
That's five home games and four on the road. There is little doubt in my mind that we will win the first three road games. Tampa Bay has no QB and LOST TO THE 49ERS! The Rams and Cards just suck! Oakland at Fed Ex should also be a win. The only pushovers we've faced are San Fran while the other NFC East teams have played more weak opponents then we have. Therefore, I think we have a slight upper hand in the division with those games coming up. If we can take those four games that would give us eight wins. If we can't I don't think we're a very good team.
Other than that it's hard to really tell. If this team really is any good they have to take three out of four at home against Philly, San Diego, Dallas, and NY. If we do that we will have 11 wins. I think this team can definately do that. I hope that's good enough!

I like your optimism but the skins don't play great on either side of the ball. they play decent offense and good defense. The defense since the ssecond half of the seattle game scares me... long run play after long run play. but look at who we will be facing...
Philly- will make enough big plays against us to win-they ALWAYS DO LOSS
Tampa- can run the ball if they can't do anything else on offense they can do that... it will be a war and the skins have to hope for some turnovers cause the tampa D isnt a joke. but they can win that. WIN
Oakland- hate to say it but their offense is hitting it's stride... the skins will have to win a shoot out but i think again, the defense will give up too many big plays. LOSS
Chargers-LOSS
Rams- again, too many big plays but if the skins can get them before bugler comes back i think they will win this game.WIN
Cardinals-WIN
Cowboys-tough game but the skins win on emotion. WIN
Giants- Skins get swept by the Gmen LOSS
Eagles- playing at the Link with a playoff birth on the line for the egirls... LOSS
so 8-8... they are what they are an 8-8 team.. better... they are moving forward which is great. hopefully next year brunell can give us another year and they concentrate on the O-line and the D-line. I am not upset by this team anymore... i bought what gibbs is selling and they are respectable again.
I think the Skins biggest problem was rest and minor, nagging injuries. Sometimes the harder you press/ ignor those things - it ends up kicking your butt. The Giants clearly outplayed us, beat us in every facet of the game - hands down, they won.
This is a new week, the new game with a fresh set of legs. I look for Betts to play a bit more and for Robert Royal to CATCH THE DAMN BALL! It's time for someone to step up and make plays, knock snot bubbles outta some iggles. 1. TO, 2. McNabb, 3. Westbrook - not neccessarily in that order

Another WR needs to step up and it needs to be Jacobs... he can torch Hood... i live in philly so i NEED this game bad.

Right direction.
Our biggest weakness: the lack of depth at defensive and offensive tackles (DT and OT) is going to come back to hunt us.
See:
Failing to tackle a big problem up front

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I wan't to apologize to everyone for my posting that the Skins should be ranked higher in the power rankings.
It was awful in the Meadowlands. I did leave with my tail between my legs after the third quarter after being verbally abused for two hours. Then the van would not start and had to get a jump from some sypathetic Giant fans.
It reminded me of last year when the Skins had seven turnovers and could not do anything right. God what a debacle.
If we don't beat Philthy at home on Sunday we will not make the play-offs.
I hope to bring us better luck in Tampa in two weeks. Please Gruden keeps Simms in there.
Yes I did see the ghost of Mara on the field stripping us of the ball and tripping our own players.

Well post giants I felt bad. I felt there was no chance the Redskins could beat the Eagles. Then I saw the Eagles/Broncos game and that completely changed my mind. While the Redskins gave up 21 points to the Broncos, the Eagles gave up 49 points!
Then again, who knows with our offense and defense combined. The Redskins cannot afford to turn it over, especially in their own territory. The defense will still have to find a way to keep the Eagles offense down and out. Their offense can get streaky; the Eagles did come back against Kansas City and almost came back to tie against the Broncos.
Still, the Redskins need to stop the run or whatever running plays they call in Philly, since Westbrook is a speed back and it will be important for the Redskins to maintain their lanes and not miss tackles or it could be a long day.
While there is a chance of improvement from the defense, it's harder to say that for the Redskins' offense. I have become more skeptical of Brunell after an awful performance that reminded me much of his futile performances of last year. Still, the Eagles struggled against the zone blocking of the Broncos whom they gave up 2 100 yard rushing running backs, which hopefully the Redskins can match against the Eagles defense who also held LT to virtually no rushing yards.

I still think we're moving in the right direction from when Gibbs took over, but the last step was backwards by a long way.
I think this team is now at the crossroads that was always going to come. At some point this season, teams would decide that stopping Moss was top priority, and the development of the offence depends on how the Redskins counter that. Can other players step up or not? If they don't then it will be addressed in the offseason - you just can't win consistently with only one threat in the passing game. Even the Redskins of old would have struggled if you took away two of the three members of The Posse.
On defence, it was about time that the opposition worked out how to counter what the Redskins were doing. There's nothing they can do about personnel until the offseason, no matter how much we want to cry out for two pass rushing ends (give me Charles Mann and Dexter Manley, with Jumpy Geathers thrown in at tackle!). So, between now and the end of the season, it's about how Williams reshuffles the pack to ask the opposition some new questions.
Oh, and lighting a major fire under the whole lot of them during practice this week wouldn't hurt either.

I know that I'm a homer and I'm proud of it! I agree with a lot of what hkHog has said and will only add that I feel the playoffs are a distinct possibility not so much because we are not a bad team (and we are not) but also because there are a lot of other teams out there especially in the NFC that I truly think are not as good a team as we are!
I totally agree with RiC that the D line is a priority next year. I think towards the end of the season we will have a very good offensive line and may just need some depth here.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

We are actually favorites in this game. -3 to be exact, meaning you wouldn't be in disagreement with the 'powers that be' if you had a little more faith in our chances vs. the Eagles.

T.O. has a sprained shoulder and McNabb is playing like crap. I wouldn't chalk this up as a loss just yet. Besides, its not hard to play better than we played last week.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

I have to say we are still moving in the right direction, I think that will also have us playing in the post season.
After the game Sunday I couldn't find anything that stood out other than Ryan Clark but he had way to many tackles to say anything stood out on the D. All the player interviews that I've heard have all said that they weren't flat, they were ready to play and that they couldn't do anything right. Gibbs tried to shoulder some of the blame in his press conference also.
I think the coaching staff has prepared these guys to the best of their abilities and I think that makes the team better prepared then the other team. So it's time for the players to step up and show us what they have. Not as the Skins offense or defense but as the Washington Redskins. We have players that call themselves team leaders, It's time for the Jansens and the Portises, the Taylors and the Arringtons to lead this team to where we want them to me

THE PERFECT STORM
I was literally feeling sick on Monday about the loss. It may have been the worst outing I have ever seen by a Skins team. With that said, I believe so many things had to go wrong and EVERY player had their worst game of the season. Turnovers, bad blocking, dropped passes, injuries, stupid penalties, missed tackles, poor play calling, and poor game planning all contributed. I just don't believe that many things can go wrong again in one game. I really think we will be ready to roll against philly. BTW..if philly doesn't at least try to run against us then Andy Reid has become more stubborn than Mike Martz ever was.
