Smoot speaks out about Snyder, Skins fans

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Smoot speaks out about Snyder, Skins fans

Post by Jake »

Q: Zygi Wilf and Dan Snyder?

A: Totally different. From my impressions of Zygi, he's the kind of owner who's going to hire the right people and let them do their jobs. Dan Snyder likes to take on five or six jobs at a time.

Q: What's the biggest difference between Vikings fans and Redskins fans?

A: I think the Vikings fans are used to winning.

I'm am going to miss yelling his name.

But I think he is going to get burnt worse then Champ did last year with Denver, and he is consider the best corner in the league?

I really think Smooooot and Pierce are not going to be as effective as they were in the Skins defense. But hey at least they got there money. It is a business.

Oh smooty smooty smooty, say what you will about the DANNY. Danny boy for the most part deserves all the ribbing he takes, but to say that minnesota fans are used to winning and washington is not? Well, no matter how old the banners are the fact is the closest minnesota has come to a winning superbowl was 1991 when the SKins marched over buffalo. Every team goes through a cycle, i had no problems with smoot leaving, i loved him while he was here but to say that minnesota is used to winning and we are not is ignorant. Thanks for the sound clips and four years of winning yourself smoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot.

Can't say much about what Smoot said...
1. Zygi doesn't try to run the team he hasn't hired and fired a bunch of coaches. He has people that have been hired to sign a bunch of Free Agents (32-year-old nose tackle Pat Williams, The 30 yr. old LB nobody wanted Sam Cowart, and Freddy). He has people that have been hired to trade their star players for guys like strong-side linebacker Napoleon Harris.

2. The viking fans maybe use to winning but I do believe they watched the SUperbowl on TV just like the Skins fans.
However we WON our last game  against his new team, and they lost their last one ( I don't remember who they lost to but I bet the true Viking fans don't even have to think about it) My 2 cents

GW's defense could make just about anyone look like a star! He's the master at rotating players for package looks. Smoot was great -- but never will live up to the moniker of a "shut-down" corner. It's just not there.

Pierce would still be riding the pine if it wasn't for GW and Barrow's injury. He is the classic product of a system and will not do nearly as well in the Giants stale, static defense.
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."

Vikings fans are used to winning?

ROTFALMAO

All the Vikings fans I know would tell you different, in fact, two of them are fond of saying, 'If it weren't the Vikings franchise, i'd think we had a chance'

What have they won of any significance? Have they had a better win/loss record than the Skins as of late.... most definitely... are they 'used to winning'.... most definitely not.

Lip service from the lip service master.

Zygi's had the gig for what? A coupla months? Well that's a lot to hang a hat on isn't it? What about the guy before Zygi? Ask Vikings fans what they thought of Red.

I'm pretty disappointed in Fred's comments on the fans... they were always extremely supportive of him. There are a lot of more 'positive' things he could have said like the fans loved and supported Fred DESPITE the losing record.

Of course, this could just be a sound byte... the 'main-stream' media love that.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Smoot will be Smoot.

And, ummmm, didn't we kind of spoil the Vikings postseason chances in the last game last year? I can't recall exactly, because the Vikes may have already been pushed out by another team winning their game, but I thought that our 'meaningless' victory against them did not allow them to go to the playoffs. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It's ok, though. Smoot will go somewhere else a couple years from now, and he will no doubt be criticizing the Vikings even more so than the Skins. It is to be expected.

No problem.

The Vikes still got in the playoffs. They beat the Packers in the Wild Card (I lost $5 to my sister in that game) and lost to Philly in the Divisional Round.

Again...there's a lot of venom for a guy (not unlike B-Mitch in another thread) who has been known to be provocative and chatty and occassionally stupid.
There should be no surprise whatsoever here, folks. Smoot was always loud. He's a Viking now. He wants to sell some Smoot jersies. He is what is is. I'd take him back in a heartbeat even if he came out and said Gibbs is a decrepit old coot.
That's what Freddie does.
