Randy Thomas plays a different position. I didn’t see anyone rank him higher than Jansen. Randy Thomas is a very good guard. Good guards are easier to find then good tackles.
And why are we covering Ray Brown and Jon Jansen? Wouldn't it be one or the other playing at once. If you're going to go that much into detail might as well rank ymer, Molinaro, and Friedman.
When was the last time we finished the season with the same people who were starters going into camp? Injuries happen. The same 5 guys playing every game for a season is a rare event. You have to evaluate the players behind the projected starting five, some of them are going to have to step up and play significant roles. It’s almost a statistical certainty.
It also should be evident that how those back ups plays is at some point going to determine our season. We saw it last year on the defensive side of the ball. A linebacker goes down, bring in another linebacker. A safety went down; bring another guy ready to play. Opps, we lost a corner for a game, his back up did a competent job. Through all this the D kept on clicking. The offensive line on the other hand, never clicked. Our best lineman went down and everyone uses that as an excuse. What it really means is that either our line coaches are bad (something I doubt) or we didn’t have enough quality depth to overcome those injuries that are going to happen in a sixteen game season.
Since the topic is “What do you think of our O line this year”, what do you think of it? Last year I thought it would be great. I was disappointed. Even when Jansen went down I thought Joe Bugle would work his magic and the line would click. This year I hope it will be great, but I thought it would be great during the Steve S years too an I was wrong. Last year I thought our D-line would be poor but those guys stepped it up. I was impressed.
I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t be in a “show me” mode with respect to this line.
Geesh you people just cannot let it be the off season can you? Picking apart the team before the first freaking snap of the season.
