i'm trying to take a very objective, "wait and see" approach to this year. i won't be surprised if we stink, but i won't be surprised if we are good either. i'm not getting my hopes up or down. but one thing i can say for certain is that there is no way we will be worse than last year- and we weren't THAT bad last year.
we finished 24th i guess, if you go by draft order- but we were clearly a better team than some that drafted after us (chicago, detriot, NYG [though their pick had been traded to SD], and dare i say dallas as well). so really we were probably around 20th. which certainly isn't very good, but there is no way we are going to be almost 50% WORSE this year and plummet down to 4th worst in the league. outrageous.
I didn't bother reading tons of comments, so pardon me if I repeat anything:
1) Notice this was ESPNs staff just saying, "Ha, you might have given away a high round draft pick!" They know this ranking has nothing to do with football, and more to do with entertainment.
2) Cowboys, Bengals, and Rams should be lower / Redskins, Bucs and Texans should be higher.
ESPN has us ranked below the Bears which is a joke in my mind.
However, my online sportsbook has the Redskins -6 vs. Chicago on opening day. I trust the guys in Vegas setting the lines a LOT more than the morons making up these power rankings, because if they are wrong it will hurt them where it counts most: the wallet.
R.I.P. Christopher Wallace (May 21, 1972 - March 9, 1997)
R.I.P. Sean Taylor (April 1, 1983 - November 27, 2007)
These rankings mean absolutely nothing. Until you get to week 8 you really can´t gauge the success a team is having in the season.
Do I hate the Cowboys? Yes. Do I think they´re better team than we are? Yes, based solely on the fact that they beat us both two last year. In fact, almost everyone beat us, so I won´t speculate anymore on who is better than the Skins till we arrive at the half season.
