Should the Skins pull a Deltha Oneal trade?

Post by oafusp »

Last year the Broncos traded Deltha Oneal to the Bengals in order to swap spots in the first round. They were going to cut Oneal anyway...but ended up moving to the mid round instead of the bottom.

If Gardner does not get much interest...maybe we could offer him and our first round pick for the Dolphins or Titan's 1st picks. At least try to move up without sacrificing draft picks...just Gardner. Better than just cutting Garnder loose.

The one big problem with moving up in the 1st round is money. Every slot you move up, costs lots of money in salary. Regardless of that, I'm not sure Gardner has enough value to allow us to move up very far anyway.

I'd rather trade him for a pick (early 3rd round) versus moving up in the draft...

Thats a good tactic to try, but I just don't see anyone that I would really want to trade up for and have to pay them that kind of money.

Perhaps next year when we draft late in the first we can try that kind of tactic?...assuming there is someone who is worth trading up for!

I've been thinking the same thing. Tampa is still interested in Gardner. According to most mocks, they want to draft a RB. Perhaps it'll do us both good if we trade our #9 and Gardner for their #5.
Let us all gather around and drink the Cooley-Aid of the Redskins.

 agreed

Win-Win for both teams, the Bucs get a needed WR and still have a top 10 pick. Redskins get better shot at Edwards or Williams.

BUT, there has been recent talk that Williams could fall to #12-#18....so a trade up might be necesary.

Miami and Tampa have both expressed interest in Gardner and trading down. Just a thought.
