Happy Valentine's day to you too.

I already gave flowers to my wife and we are going out tonight to watch something -she- picked.

Happy Valentine's Day Terri! :-) I hope Jake remembers he doesn't have to just send flowers to Kelly but to you too! ;-)

Happy 'Stupid Men Day' to all of you... where prices are threefold and men are scrambling all day wondering if they're worth the love of their spouse/gf.

Personally... I hate this hallmark holiday... if you have someone special in your life, like I do, you should love them everyday like it's Valentine's Day.

But I'll take this time to wish a happy Valentine's Day to my favorite trifecta of SkinsChicks that make this board more 'refined'... SkinsChic, NikiH and of course, the incomparable Tazlah.

Wow Boss I hope that isn't her Valentine's Day gift. LOL Just kidding of course. Happy Valentine's Day to you too! I agree on the everyday should be valentine's day idea though. Flowers on a plain old Monday will get you more credit then flowers on a day when every woman gets them! ;-)

Love and devotion are measured by flowers and chocolates, didn't you ever learn that in school?? Or a nice home made vegatarian meal would do the trick too, I'm guessing! ;-)

Well see... there's a good idea. I mean, I haven't made Taz a nice veggie meal since...............

YESTERDAY!

Hmmmm -- just to settle things a bit -- my Valentines Day was great! But then, every day with my guy is awesome.

BossHog is lucky in that I pretty much share his sentiment with regards to this oh-so-commercial "holiday". I do a lot for him; he does a lot for me -- we both know it, we both appreciate the other for it. We are a team and he's my valentine every day. That's why I have a problem with "celebrating" Valentines day -- we celebrate our life together all the time. But on this one particular day, when prices for chocolates and flowers are inflated ($80 for a dozen roses???? Come on! :thump:), it's all just a money-grab. Yesterday those roses were $80; today they are $20! And they are roses -- they have thorns and they die: Now there's a symbol of love????? (oh, the cynic in me shows! ) Don't get me wrong, I love flowers! In fact, I often buy them for my desk at work. But I don't need the love of my life to foolishly purchase them for me one day of the year when they are at their most expensive!

 I'm gonna shut-up now! I didn't mean for this to turn into a rant!!!! I'm just mad about hockey, or the lack thereof! :explode:

I do hope everyone had a happy Valentine's day though; but remember: how you show your love, affection and appreciation daily for those special people in your life is much more important than lavish over-priced gifts one day of the year!

My guy knows exactly where my heart is ALWAYS. xxxx
If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a little noose around your neck?

Wow Terri you raised some very thoughtful children! I guess you cannot take credit for the son in law though huh? Jake good job! ;-)

I was just kidding about Scott, he did pretty well. I am not a jewelry person and he knows I wouldn't jump for joy to get it every holiday. I have a few very special pieces of jewelry and that's enough for now!

Taz I'm bummed that there isn't hockey either. I mean you would have thought that they could work something out. It has to be killing the players too.

Good post, Taz! I share the same views (except for the thorny roses rant). You and Boss have a good thing going. Keep it up!

I spent last evening with my wife, a little ice cream, and...since there's no hockey violence on TV, some "24". What a great show!
Back and better than ever!

BH and I were talking about this last night; this affects so many people, much more than just the NHL or NHLPA. People like us, but that make their "living" on hockey: Sports bars that normally would be packed on Saturday night are sitting empty (i.e., staff no longer needed), arena staff are not necessary, all the "grunts" that bring these games to television are currently not working (camera operators, producers, editors, administration...), just to name a few; people whose livelihood (i.e., pay mortgage, feed family, etc.) is in question now because of this. Probably should have taken this to the "Hockey" thread but I am just not emotionally ready to go there yet!!!

Oh, and I still hope everyone had a happy day yesterday! Jake -- you done good by your momma!
