Pro Player Stadium Renamed

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Pro Player Stadium Renamed

Pro Player Renamed Dolphins Stadium
The Associated Press
Monday, January 10, 2005; 12:31 PM

DAVIE, Fla. - The Miami Dolphins have a new coach, and now they have a new name for their stadium - and it has a familiar ring.

The stadium now will be known as Dolphins Stadium. Pro Player signed a 10-year, $20 million deal with the Dolphins in 1996, but has since gone out of business.

Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga also said Monday that a new firm is being created to manage the football team and the stadium he owns, as well as to oversee a planned stadium expansion.

A new management company - Dolphins Enterprises LLC - is being created. A CEO for that company will be named shortly, Huizenga said.

The CEO will report directly to Huizenga, as will new coach Nick Saban.

If Saban can turn that team around next year, companies will be lining up to acquire the naming rights. Right now...Dolphins Stadium seems the most lucrative choice.

Pro Player is gone, huh? What about STARTER? Are they still around?

Just like in nature. And if some uppity fish has a problem with that I'm sure the local pod will set him straight.

Pro Player and Starter went bankrupt years ago.

That's weird that the Marlins play in Dolphins stadium.

They SHOULD get their own stadium, they have an amazingly loyal following but Pro Player/JRS/Dolphins stadium is damn hard to get to on weekdays. The Marlins have won two championships in 10 years, I mean that's quite an accomplishment. If they had their own stadium that was closer to Miami then they'd be close to selling out every night.

i agree. i hate seeing those retarded baseball diamonds in the middle of a football field. teams that share a stadium with a baseball team should be forced to play away games till the paint drying season is over. :)

Isn't signing a deal to "name" a stadium a sure sign that a company's about to hit the skids.

"Qualcom" "Adelphia".... the list goes on.

It's more of a 60/40 thing, I think. I doubt we're going to see Heinz out of business anytime soon.

Since the sponsorship deal, Heinz is posting some of its worst earning in memory, so don't doubt the curse.

I blame the renaming of French fries to Freedom fries. Nobody wants to eat freedom, it's not salted right.

I used to wonder why UPS never did a lot of sponsoring with the NFL, now I know why.

Now that you mention it, they built Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, and JKC died.

Don't know that I could handle calling Redskins' Stadium "Kinkos Field." Nothing intrinsically wrong with it, I suppose, but still. . . .

well, i doubt that the panthers will ever have to worry about bank of america. indeed they are the bank of america, because they are indeed the lien on over 50% of the property in the US.

But, when the team started, it was Ericsson Stadium, and Ericsson ended up "merging" with Sony.

I like the Fed-ex Field. Every time I see a Fed-Ex truck roll by, I think of the Redskins. And Fed-Ex Kinko's is the shyz, I get all my work and printing done at the Fed-Ex Kinko's right down the street and they're open 24/7! The Fed-Ex company is making some big bucks. No wonder why the Fed-Ex Field is the largest Stadium in the NFL. Fed-Ex owns!! Image
Image
Look How freakin' huge the Stadium is!
91,665 person capacity, 3 freakin' levels that circle all the way arround the field. It's a thing of beauty!
