As happy as I am for two of my favorite players, Jim Rice has been snubbed again.
Taking nothing away from Boggs and Sandberg (both should have actually recieved a higher percentage of votes IMO). But Jim Rice was arguably the greatest players of the 70's and 80's.
This quote from Bill Simmons sums it up:
"The Baseball Hall of Fame officially "jumped the shark" for me in 1998, the year Don Sutton and Jim Rice headed the ballot. Had the Dodgers offered to trade Sutton straight-up for Rice during their respective athletic primes, Red Sox management would have giggled and hung up on them.
So who was voted in that year? You guessed it ... Don Sutton."
This guy's an even bigger HOF snub than Monk is in the NFL. Hopefully, someday writters will come to their senses.

"Guess [Ryan Kerrigan] really does have a good motor. And is relentless. And never quits on a play. And just keeps coming. And probably eats Wheaties and drinks Apple Pie smoothies and shaves with Valvoline." -Dan Steinberg DC Sports Bog

Yes, yes, yes, speaking as a Yankees fan. Sutton? Laughable. And Boggs? Fine slap hitter, OK fielder, but nothing compared to Rice. I worried every time Rice came to bat.

Well, I give Boggs a lot more credit, but I suppose we are in agreement.
Wade Boggs wasn't ever as feared as Rice, but by today's standards he was awesome, OBP, OPS... the power was in the extreme ammount of doubles he hit, he's a great choice for the Hall of Fame... but Jim Rice was a terror at the plate, by THOSE standards he was one of, if not THE best player in the game. Those are the criteria the HOF should vote with.

Yeah, I guess at the time it seemed like he was strictly singles and nothing to be feard, but he hit like .340, during the 80's! The whole entire 80's! How ridiculous is that?
It's shocking to me that this man never won an MVP.
