There are a couple of things that I have been thinking about. I was wondering if anyone realized that with all of the complaining about Pittsburgh getting the automatic BCS bid that the Seahawks are in first place in the NFC west with a 7-7 record. St. Louis is second at 6-8. Why isn't anyone campaigning to have the NFC wests automatic bid into the playoffs taken away?
Another thought is that one major flaw of a playoff system is that the two best teams who have spent the entire regular season earning the right to play in the championship game, suddenly are only afforded the same opportunity as a bunch of inferior teams. What if Philadelphia ends up playing a team with a sub .500 record? Now, what if McNabb tears his ACL in that game and then the Eagles subsequently lose in the next playoff game. Was that really fair? By being the best team in the NFC, why haven't they earned the right to play in the Super Bowl?

How have you EVER proved you're the best in the NFC if you've never won the championship game?
They play the playoffs for a reason... by your logic... they should just give the Super Bowl to the team with the best regular season record.
The regular season is just to establish seeding for the playoffs, which are by design to (hopefully) reward the two teams that are playing the best at the end of the year... not the team that put together the best season from start to finish.
