46 DEFENSE

Found this somewhere on GOOGLE:

The Chicago Bears tore the NFL apart in the mid 1980s with their legendary 46 defense. Over the years this scheme has been abandoned due to rule changes and the evolution of the passing game. This article will talk about how ...

My friend ("Deadskin") - I coached over 40 years (36 in High School, 5 in College, & 1 in Pros). I know a LITTLE about coaching, since it was my life's work. There are many members on this site that know me, & know this is true.

Do not be so presumptious as to tell someone else WHAT to post ...

On the INSIDE & OUTSIDE ZONE plays that Portis ran in Denver AND Washington (& prefers), the RB has a LOT of complex "READS" to make (on pre-designated down linemern). With a big FB in front of him - he CAN'T SEE the READS! Riggins made the same complaint (I can't SEE for the FB).

I'm not quite sure what your post meant!

I don't have time to WASTE in debates, but you IMPLIED that there Gillman & Walsh pass offenses were somehow not alike.

I can assure you that for a Coach (& to a much lesser extent - a Fan) to comprehend the "CONCEPTS" of the Walsh, Air Coryell, Joe ...

Yeah, that's probably true. However, I'll take Darrel Green & Champ Bailey on offense (even IF they dropped a few). They would "blow the top off the coverage" going deep, allowing all kinds of stuff to open up underneath. WHEN they caught one - it would be all over for the "D"!!!

BOTH Bill Walsh & Don Coryell (Gibbs' mentor) BOTH credited their offernsive ideas to Sid Gillman. Ball Handling Drills

A wide receiver must be able to concentrate intensely on the flight of the ball and ignore distractions from defenders. A receiver must make a strong effort to catch any ball thrown in his direction. In positioning his hands for a catch, a wide receiver should extend his ...

THEORY OF ONE BACK FOOTBALL

In a recent article - Bill Belichick said that "there is no one in the NFL running a 2 BACK offense - there may be two guys back there SOME of the time - but everyone has ONE RB" ("feature back").

The 2 MOST USED personnel groupings in the NFL today are:

1. 2 TE/2 WR/1 RB

2. 1 TE/3 WR/1 RB ...
