I am a huge Brunell fan. I keep waiting for him to snap out of it. I watched him throughout the years at Jacksonville and he used to be able to do all the things fans are criticizing him on (arm strength and accuracy).

I just don't understand the problem. I used to be 34, and still had most of ...

The run blocking scheme was adjusted big time. That was the difference. Portis has always been good. In the previous games 90% of the runs were based on pulling linemen. Last week we saw a drastic reduction. The also implemented a nice twist. They had all the linement pull right, and Brunell ...

I am one of Brunell's biggest fans and supporters. After a solid 1st quarter, I must agree he looked terrible. In fact it was after he took the helmet to helmet hit (that was not called) when he totally lost it. I used to be able to make the down field throw, I don't understand what's up.

I will ...

CLANG!!! My ears still hurt from all the noise from Champ's hands on the little curl he ran last weekend. Plummer hit him right in the hands. Tell Champ to keep using those hands for all those great tackles and not trying to be a WR.

35yrskinsfan - It was a mix, some penatration, but for the most part the plays are slow developing giving time for the LBs and safties to move in, flow with the pulling OL and it just is a large mess of bodies.

There were a few obvious missed blocks, and linemen looking clumsy, but I just don't ...

I think the lack of arm strength is a little of the "Emperors new clothes". When Brunell drops back plants and throws, he puts mustard on it. However, when he is undecided (or can't find anyone) he throws poorly. It's not arm strength, it's his mechanics when he is hesitant. He needs to fix that. I ...

After doing a TIVO analysis, it seems that by always pulling left or right it is taking our OL out of there element and putting them into the Defenses element. What I mean is we are asking the OL to get up and move laterally against quicker and more agile defenders. The OL is just forming a giant ...

I was sitting at home yesterday and decided to review the offense starting in the 2nd half. I used TIVO to slow-mo and freeze frame to get a look at what was happening. Here is what I saw:

1) Brunell rarely dropped back and threw to the #1 option. I could not see down field to see if recievers ...

I believe like all great QBs and RBs the supporting cast, especially the OL, is key. I don't care how good you are if you don't have the blocking it's going to impact your QB and RB. Of course talented and fast WR's help, as well as good coaching and play calling. It's all relative.

I'm still happy with Portis.

No. Portis is fine. It's the OL; except for the fumbles. I don't believe the OL is good enough for Joe's system. The proof is the 3rd and 1 history. The are simply not moving the DL; they have not shown they have the physical strength, at least not yet. Maybe they are thinking too much at this point ...

"not once has he had one of those awesome plays that makes us all get to our feet and get excited"

I got off the couch (and that takes a really big play) when Brunell shook off a defender and hit Gardner in the end zone against Dallas. That was a tremendous play.

Brunell is my guy. I agree 100% also, if he can't get the ball down field then replace him.

I also know from watching him and Jimmy Smith throughout the years...He can get the ball downfield!

What I have been able to see on TV (about 50%) the WRs are not open in the obvious pass situations ...

On Brunell:

The announcers said it during the early part of the game. They said that Brunell said that it's the first time he has been "instructed" that if the play breaks down, WRs are covered, or if the pocket is collapsing, then "don't force it, don't run, but throw the ball away". Let the ...

One observation about Brunell watching him over the years:

He used to be more of a gun slinger. He could also run very well. As the Jax OL starting stinking it up (post Boselli and Searcy), Brunell starting getting slammed. He led the league in getting sacked one year and was up there in a couple ...

The sneak was pretty sad. One, the offensive line got stoned and Brunell was very lucky he didn't fumble. He stuck the ball out there and it could have been easily knocked out of his hands.

Some of you guys are tough critics (and yes some ignorant, sorry). It's not like Brunell is out there in the shotgun with Harrison on one side and Wayne on the other.

Brunell Bashers

I just read the whole game day thread. As I expected, a lot of Brunell haters, with limited football knowledge.

Game stats 25-43 325 yds 2 TD's 0 Int

Brunell played well. What most people are not realizing, is that there is not a lot of opportunity for the QB to accel with the current ...

The reality

1) Offensive philosophy -

I don't believe the standard Gibbs pound the run methodology is going to work. The truth is that the running game has been very average except for the first Portis run in game 1. Our offensive line is playing pretty good, but they are not dominating.

I think some ...

It looks as though Williams is going to be creative in applying pressure on the QB (as stated by redskinz4ever).

I'm not questioning your devotion to the Skins. I just can't think that way.

And, yes the LT comparison is stretching it, but on that particular play (which I watched a few times), Lavar looked so big and quick, he looked like a man playing with boys.

Gibbs take special teams very serioulsy, I'm sure that is how Jimoh made it. It has to be?

With the quality depth at safety and the speed and ability of Taylor, maybe we will see some interesting wrinkles in our nickle packages.

Come on! Tampa was 7-9 last year and are trending down, way down. If the Skins can't win this one we are in for a long season.

Gibbs is going to have these guys ready; the fans should be loud, the defense is going to be ultra aggressive (they MAY get burned deep once or twice, but I bet we get a ...
