The Slovakian women's hockey team beat Bulgaria today by an unbelievable margin of 82-0 in an Olympic qualifying game. More than a goal a minute. I am guessing ...

There were allegations, never substantiated, that he used erythropoetin...

There is little doubt that he used EPO. He had 6 frozen samples from his 1999 victory (which was before a test for EPO existed) test positive in 2004.

it seems to me that it's in my best interest to not be judged by others for the length of my hair

As a fellow long hair I appreciate this statement, and know the stereotypes you are up against. However, I love being judged by people because of my long hair. The beauty thing about doing academic ...

Unlike most here at thehogs.net, I know you have spent your share of time on dirt bike. This one must hit close to home.

It will be interesting to see if Bruce Boudreau fares any better, and how long they keep him around (I guess ultimately that will depend on how he does). I always like when coaches new to the NHL get a chance.

how has attendance been at Caps games?

Thanks Taz!
Unfortunately there is little question that Pen would have done better than my 5-11 (Pen is my 2 year old son). Infact I think I should get him to make picks for next week and enter them into the pool to see if indeed I can beat him. I should ...

New NHL jerseys

The CBC has posted photos on their website that show all of the new or modified NHL jerseys.

I completely agree with your comments on the need to invest in the expansion of clean sources of energy. Our provincial government has continually stalled on promises to decommission our coal burning power plants. This is exactly why we need to support companies like Bullfrog Power. About 2500 ...

If the energy required to support this second process is already CLEAN, why do I need a further introduction of entropy in this same second process?

We use power sources that are less than 100% efficient in terms of energy in vs. energy out all the time. The charge/discharge efficiency of most ...

Re: Seawater as a fuel?

Your statement is true only in that the electricity needed to separate hydrogen from oxygen in water, comes mostly from the burning of fossil fuels. If the process is powered by solar, wind, or hydro power, there are zero emissions.

Exactly!

As a slight diversion to this thead, here in ...

There is no question that energy in vs. energy out is the key to this having any real impact. The 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics say that it is impossible to have a net energy gain by splitting the hydrogen from a water molecule and burning it. However, achieving 100% efficiency isn't necessary ...

Seawater as a fuel?

A cancer researcher has used an instrument that he was working on to treat cancer to "burn" salt water. The instrument emits a radio frequency that ...
