They have $113 million committed in salaries for 06 and the salary cap should be around $95 million. Soe they are about 18 million over. Some contracts will be restuctured by converting base salaries to bonuses and some players probably will be cut.

Walt Harris and Matt Bowen are likely gone. They are both due to make around 2 million in base and that's too much for a backup safety and nickel back.

On 980 they said if Lavar is cut before June 1st (I think) he counts something like 12 million against the 06 cap. If he's cut after june 1st he counts 2 million against the cap and the rest in 07. If they want to make a run next year at the title I think they cut Lavar and use the money to get ...

The big question is do they pay him the $6 million roster bonus he is due according to his contract. My guess, and answer would be no. If he gives ups the bonus and wants to come back they may keep him. If he insists on getting that roster bonus they will release him.

It is pretty complicated. And if here were not due that 6 million roster bonus I would think his odds of being here would be higher. If he gives up that bonus maybe he stays.

But it is a pretty complicated issue.

The big question is whether Gregg Williams thinks Lavar is worth the $6 million roster bonus.
Or if he finds a player that he likes in the free agent market who he'd rather spend that money on.

I think that by extending William's contract LaVar will restructure and stay. He's wanted to have a coach stay and now we have one.
