Well, AP did get 1000+ rushing yards last year so he ran it a bit. :)
I heard a GM talking about the running game in the NFL the other day on some sports show. It left me with the impression that fans are sticking with this old school idea of "committing to the run" a lot more than coaches and GMs ...

Re: 2019 Offseason Chatter
I mean they have a supposedly healthy Guice, Peterson, and Thompson. It's hard to imagine them not using the hell out of the running game even if Keenum starts.
Not sold on this idea, man. Historically, Gruden has not shown great commitment to the run.
Like his older brother, he likes to pass ...

Re: 2019 Offseason Chatter
Well, at least we have some bodies at CB.
I can't remember the starting lineup of our Secondary from
the last couple of seasons. It could be my age, but the constant injuries don't help either.
Looks like we have a better shot this year and
actually develop someone instead of hiring some gentleman ...

So it's official. Done for the season.
Let's hope the DL steps up. Lots of talent there.

Re: #7
The team got there in spite of Joe, not because of Joe.
True. Those were impressive teams. Watched some games on YT the other day
and Joe T was the "least good" player. That '83 offense was a yard-devouring machine.
Let's hope we can achieve at least 10% of that efficiency with the new #7.

So basically that means everyone is expecting him to start from Day 1,
giving some credence to common knowledge expressed in this forum.
What's the track record with this kind of bet? Any recent examples?

Re: Week 1 starting QB- lets GO!!
But I don't believe we would have been likely to draft a first round QB this year if not for the Alex Smith injury. We're paying huge $$ for that guy. Team needed a first round QB on a team friendly rookie deal IMO.
This is the Redskins we're talking about. It's premiere sports franchise.

Re: Week 1 starting QB- lets GO!!
Now, the Redskins would be wise to show the same intelligence and restraint and not force Haskins into a starting role.
LOL
This is exactly why he was drafted. Tickets must be sold.
The natural thing would be to wait a bit, maybe week 8 to start him, but everyone here knows that ain't ...

Re: Week 1 starting QB- lets GO!!
Week 8. But not because he's prepared.
The pressure forced upon Haskins will come
from the mediocrity displayed by both Keenum and McCoy from weeks 1-7.
Heck, knowing Snyder he might pull the trigger
during pre-season.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Don't know where you guys are seeing the Haskins-Moon relation. Totally different playing style and body type.
I'll say it again and I think you'll hear multiple commentators repeat the same thing:
Haskins is the re-encarnation of Doug Williams. Take that as you may.
Great arm, limited mobility ...

I’m not thrilled with Haskins, why was he there at 15? Seems like a college move, bring in the local kid and sell more tickets
The is exactly what I drummed here during the last couple of months.
A need of a new QB was not just a "sports need", it was a commercial consideration.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Well, it's Haskins.
This is Doug Williams' power move inside Redskins FO.
He will either be remembered or repudiated for this pick.
Did he just re-draft himself with the Haskins pick?
Is he looking for some kind of validation of his own career with this pick?

I was thinking the same thing about Williams input. You are right on sir. Damn good assessment.
Much appreciated, my friend.
If the rumors about Danny taking over the 1st round pick are true, then good heavens help us.
Let's hope he sees the light. Right now, we can only pray he does.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Looks like they are going to get Haskins by all the reporting. Damn. He isn't going to work.
Man, Haskins reminds me a lot the Doug Williams from the late 70s/early 80s that played with the Bucs.
Lanky, long windup, needs to get into rhythm to really shine during the game.

Yea, for a year or two, until teams adjusted. Screw that. Give me a prototypical NFL quarterback.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Yes, that would seem the most logical thing.
But I fear the Cards will push too hard to see who offers the most for Rosen.
I'm not sure we have the ammunition to make the deal happen. Or even the will power, honestly.

Thanks, that's a good explanation Riggo.
I've realized the draft is just a big lottery. The more picks, the better.
But this Rosen trump card is unusual. I'm honestly piqued about the whole thing.
Let's hope for the best!

Actually, Allen's on record saying something like "getting the best talent independent of position need".
We've actually traded down, if I remember correctly?
Gone are the halcyon days of the Snyder-Vinny combo, even if their legacy lives forever

They certainly tried...and failed:The Redskins also haven't drafted a "franchise" QB since Sammy Baugh. The best QBs they've ever had (aside from Baugh) all came by trade.

Ramsey

Just for the record, I do believe we are a good QB away from the playoffs.
Last year proved it. A good, not spectacular, QB makes all the difference in this league.
While Alex was healthy he kept us in playoff contention.
It was eerily similar situation when Gus was our QB in 1997. We were doing ...

On "tanking" this season to get a higher draft pick in 2020, this just in:
Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores doesn't even like to hear the word "tank." So when the question was brought up about the common link between the 2019 Dolphins and tanking, he was emphatic that he wouldn't stand for it ...
