No one is a more passionate advocate of trickery and aggressive play-calling than I. My point isn't that the option-pass call wasn't aggressive. It's that it made no sense in that particular situation.

An aggressive call is when you pass in a running situation or vice versa. A stupid call is ...

I'm not even sure I can follow that explanation, since it doesn't appear to be in English. But as far as I can tell, he's saying he expected the Rams ...

I just checked and the game is on the schedule at Channelsurfing.net. And when I clicked on the link, it took me to JustinTV. Which suggests both sites will have it.

Or not. These things are notoriously unreliable, but nine hours before kickoff it's looking hopeful.

>>Zorn didn't even call time outs to try to win.<<

It wasn't so much the lack of timeouts that bothered me. It was calling three straight running plays and punting the ball away when there was still more that two minutes left to play.

For one thing, obviously Brennan is trying to win a job ...

My point precisely. The only way Rock is going to carry the rock is if Portis and Betts are both incapacitated in the same game. With even a week's worth of choice in the matter, the Redskins would rather sign a free agent off the street than trust Cartwright.

Even at the cost of potentially ...

This is a point I've been arguing for two years now.

Portis is obviously still your starter, and Betts has value as a backup because he's shown he can be productive as an every-down back if Portis gets nicked. The question is, what are you looking for in your third option?

The official ...

Williams has the best NFL pedigree and seems to intrigue the coaches and his fellow players. On the other hand, you can't discount Mitchell's athleticism and the fact that the Redskins -- like most NFL teams -- are predisposed to keep their own draft picks rather than journeymen free agents signed ...

Which part of the second part? Do you agree Redskin fans are knowledgeable but easily stampeded by media that demonize everything Dan Snyder says, or is it the other way around?

Admittedly, I live 3,000 miles away from FedEx Field. And not having attended a Redskin game in DC since the 1960s, my impressions of Snyder are not likely to be shaped by the in-person fan experience. But I read the team press release about this move (m) and, frankly, I don't get the hostility at ...

Cap hit or no, I can only assume this is the precursor to another move, like signing Levi Jones or something like that.

Jansen's play had deteriorated badly in recent years and even in his prime wasn't a good fit for a West Coast offense. Still, he was a better option at least as a backup than ...

I don't see Thrash or Cartwright making the team this year.

I know both are hard workers, contribute on special teams and are good locker room guys, but I don't think their production justifies a roster spot.

Rock is an OK kick returner, but he's more safe than explosive at it. More to the ...

I think we're just going to have to watch and see how this plays out. At the moment, the Redskins are utilizing Orakpo the only way that makes sense. He has the prototypical size and mobility for a Sam linebacker, and the Redskins don't have a returning starter at that position. Meanwhile, they have ...

My point is that it's too simple to just say the Redskins can never be successful because they overspend for free agents rather than building through the draft. That's the favored cliche of lazy columnists, but it bears little resemblance to the facts.

I've never really understood this logic. The Redskins had a full compliment of draft choices last year, plus a few extras, so they didn't do much in free agency. This year they only have a few picks, so they had to fill more of their holes with free agents.

What exactly were the Redskins ...

In legal terms, this is hearsay evidence -- and it isn't even that, because Cartwright didn't get his information directly from the source. He heard it from a teammate who may, or may not, have heard it from an agent. That may sound like a smoking gun to the people in Tennessee, but I'm reasonably ...
