I just received this note from the Caps<\/a>. Anyone attending tonight’s Capitals-Islanders tilt will want to read this:<\/p>\n

Street Closures & Parking Restrictions For 2008 Pageant of Peace.<\/p>\n

(Washington, D.C.) The Metropolitan Police Department has provided the
\nfollowing information regarding street closures and parking restrictions
\nfor the 2008 Pageant of Peace on Thursday, December 4, 2008.\u00a0 The
\nceremony for the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree is scheduled to
\ntake place at 5 p.m. on the Ellipse near the White House.\u00a0 Please note
\nthe times and locations of the road closures have been amended.
\nAmended Road Closures:<\/p>\n

-Beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, and
\nin effect until the completion of the ceremonies, there will be no
\ntraffic allowed northbound or southbound on 15th Street, NW, between E
\nStreet and Constitution Avenue.<\/p>\n

-Beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, and
\nin effect until the completion of the ceremonies there will also be no
\ntraffic allowed northbound or southbound on 17th Street, NW, between
\nConstitution Avenue and New York Avenue.<\/p>\n

Parking Restrictions:
\n(These restrictions remain the same as previously released.)<\/p>\n

-From 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, there will be no
\nparking allowed on 15th Street, NW, between Pennsylvania and
\nConstitution Avenues.<\/p>\n

-There will also be no parking allowed during that time on 17th Street,
\nNW, between Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenues.<\/p>\n

These street closings and related parking restrictions are subject to
\nchange without notice based upon prevailing conditions.<\/p>\n

Traffic delays may occur during this event and motorists should consider
\nalternative routes to avoid the area if possible.\u00a0 The Metropolitan
\nPolice Department and the Department of Transportation (DDOT) encourage
\nmotorists to expect increased pedestrian traffic around this event and
