The letter informs LSU it&#8217;s no longer authorized to use Daniels&#8217; name, image, or likeness. The dispute traces back to LSU issuing Daniels&#8217; former No. 5 jersey to sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former head coach Brian Kelly had kept No. 5 out of circulation after Daniels left, despite it never being officially retired. New head coach Lane Kiffin says Pickett was promised the number during recruiting in December 2024, before Kiffin took over. Pickett wore No. 3 last season and switched to No. 5 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A statement from Daniels&#8217; family didn&#8217;t hold back. LSU&#8217;s decision, the family said, &#8220;feels profoundly disrespected.&#8221; Pickett responded calmly when asked about it Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/news\/jayden-daniels-lsu-cease-and-desist-no-5-jersey-dj-pickett\/\">saying simply<\/a>, &#8220;I wish Jayden the best.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reports of a Heisman Request<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Louisiana SportsDaniels&#8217; camp also asked LSU to return its copy of his 2023 Heisman Trophy. LSU has no plans to comply and considers the cease-and-desist letter non-binding, per the same report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/the-hogs.net\/blogs\/tag\/jayden-daniels\/\">Daniels <\/a>won the Heisman at LSU after transferring from Arizona State ahead of the 2022 season. He went on to become the <a href=\"https:\/\/the-hogs.net\/blogs\/2024\/04\/25\/commanders-draft-jayden-daniels-with-2nd-overall-pick\/\">number two overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Daniels Breaks His Silence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Daniels addressed the situation directly on Thursday afternoon, posting to his Instagram story.
