{"id":386,"date":"2008-09-26T19:17:53","date_gmt":"2008-09-26T19:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thehogs.net\/blogs\/?p=386"},"modified":"2025-05-03T01:38:46","modified_gmt":"2025-05-03T05:38:46","slug":"hognostications-week-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the-hogs.net\/blogs\/2008\/09\/26\/hognostications-week-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Hognostications: Week 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to BigRedskinDaddy for going 14-2 in last week&#8217;s hognostications.\u00a0 There were many close games\u00a0in which several games weren&#8217;t decided until the\u00a0clock reached zero.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What happened to the Pats?\u00a0 Colts? \u00a0Da Bears?<\/p>\n<p>It looks like anything can happen this season so choose wisely.\u00a0 That said, below are\u00a0my picks for week 4.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Houston at Jacksonville:<\/strong> The\u00a0Texans (0-2), who have yet to play a home game thanks to Hurricane Ike, travel\u00a0to Jacksonville this week.\u00a0 The Jags (1-2) are coming off of an impressive win against the Colts last week.\u00a0 Look for the Jags to even their record this weekend.\u00a0 <em>Pick Jags<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denver at Kansas City:<\/strong>\u00a0 Denver (3-0) has the top offense in the AFC but\u00a0they are also last in defense.\u00a0 The Chiefs (0-3) are in for a long season.\u00a0 These teams are bitter rivals, but that won&#8217;t come into play this week.\u00a0 If the Chiefs were a little, better this game could be a trap game for the Broncos, but I think not.\u00a0 <em>Pick Broncos<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>San Francisco at New Orleans:<\/strong>\u00a0 San Fran (2-1)\u00a0has been turning some heads so far this season.\u00a0 They have put up over 30 points in each of the last two games and have an impressive defense.\u00a0 The injury riddled Saints (1-2) have lost the last two games by a total of six points.\u00a0 This game could go either way, but I\u00a0will go with the home team.\u00a0 <em>Pick Saints<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cleveland at Cincinnati:<\/strong>\u00a0 Cleveland (0-3)\u00a0is dead last in offense\u00a0in the AFC.\u00a0 Cincinnati (0-3) is one spot above them.\u00a0 Since the Bengals took the reigning champs into OT last week I will give them the nod.\u00a0 <em>Pick Bengals<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Atlanta at Carolina:<\/strong>\u00a0 This will be an exciting divisional game with 3 teams tied at 2-1 going into this weekend.\u00a0 Atlanta (2-10) returned to their high scoring games with a win last week over the Chiefs 38-14.\u00a0 Carolina (2-1) suffered their first loss last week against the Vikings.\u00a0 Carolina, though, has beaten better teams than the Falcons.\u00a0 <em>Pick Panthers<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Arizona at New York Jets:<\/strong>\u00a0 Arizona (2-1) suffered their first loss last week to the Redskins 24-17.\u00a0 The Jets (1-2) have lost two straight.\u00a0 Looks like Favre&#8217;s fire is flickering (say that 3 times).\u00a0 Look for the Cardinals to stay on top of their division after this game.\u00a0 <em>Pick Cardinals<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minnesota at Tennessee:<\/strong>\u00a0 Minnesota (1-2) got their first win last week over the Panthers 20-10.\u00a0 Can Gus be their answer?\u00a0 Tennessee (3-0) continues to impress.\u00a0 The Titans rank #5 in offense and #3 in defense\u00a0in the AFC.\u00a0 Look for the Titans to remain undefeated.\u00a0 <em>Pick Titans<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Green Bay at Tampa Bay:<\/strong>\u00a0 Green Bay (2-1) suffered their first defeat to the Cowboys last Sunday night.\u00a0 The Packers must improve their defense if they want to return to the playoffs.\u00a0 Tampa Bay (2-1) beat the Bears last week in OT 27-24, and Brian Griese had over 400 passing yards.\u00a0 This game could easily go either way, and I am sure this will separate some hognosticators.\u00a0 <strong>Pick Bucs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>San Diego at Oakland:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Charges (1-2) are much better than their record states.\u00a0 They finally got their first win last Monday night\u00a0against the Jets.\u00a0 The Raiders (1-2) lost a squeaker last week to the Bills 24-23 that prompted rumors of Al Davis firing head coach Lane Kiffin.\u00a0 Will the Raiders\u00a0win one for their coach?\u00a0 Nah.\u00a0 <em>Pick Chargers<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buffalo at St. Louis:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Bills (3-0) are on a roll.\u00a0 They have the AFC&#8217;s # 3 offense and #4 defense.\u00a0 The Rams (0-3)\u00a0are #31 on offense and dead last in defense for the entire NFL.\u00a0 Hopefully, this won&#8217;t turn out like\u00a0last week&#8217;s Patriots pick (thanks JSPB22)&#8230;..<em>Pick Bills<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Washington at Dallas:<\/strong>\u00a0 Dallas (3-0) hosts the Redskins for the final match-up in the toilet.\u00a0 Because it is early in the season, they have the NFL&#8217;s #1 offense and a respectable defense. \u00a0Washington (2-1) are tied for third in the toughest division in all of football.\u00a0 With continued improvement each week they have quieted some nay-sayers&#8230;for the time being.\u00a0 This has all the makings of a trap game, but hopefully the Redskins will focus on this game and not look towards next week&#8217;s game against the Eagles.\u00a0 <em>Pick WASHINGTON REDSKINS<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Philadelphia at Chicago:<\/strong>The Eagles (2-1) came out of last week&#8217;s game banged up with injuries to McNabb and Westbrook.\u00a0 The Bears (1-2) beat the Colts on opening day and lost to Carolina and Tampa Bay by three points each.\u00a0 Look for the Eagles to be in last place in the NFC East after Sunday. <em>Pick Bears.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Baltimore at Pittsburgh:<\/strong>\u00a0 This should be an exciting divisional Monday night game.\u00a0 Baltimore (2-0) has beaten the Bengals and the Browns, which isn&#8217;t exactly earth shattering.\u00a0 They do, however, have the AFC&#8217;s #1 defense.\u00a0 The Steelers (2-1) got their first loss of the season last week against the Eagles 15-6.\u00a0 Pittsburgh has a better defense than the Ravens, but Big Ben needs to get his groove back.\u00a0 Look for the Ravens to suffer their first divisional loss.\u00a0 <em>Pick Steelers<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bye week: \u00a0Lions, Colts, Dolphins, Patriots, Giants and Seahawks.<\/p>\n<p>Last week: 11-5<\/p>\n<p>Season: 20-11<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to BigRedskinDaddy for going 14-2 in last week&#8217;s hognostications.\u00a0 There were many close games\u00a0in which several games weren&#8217;t decided until the\u00a0clock reached zero.\u00a0 What happened to the Pats?\u00a0 Colts? \u00a0Da Bears?
