The Maryland Maniacs held the first of two Dance Team auditions at the Gold\u2019s Gym in Greenbelt, MD on Saturday, January 23rd.<\/p>\n

Maniacs Hold Dance Team Auditions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contestants were asked to individually introduce themselves to a panel of judges and give a brief display of their moves and unique style. Following the introductions, the dance team hopefuls worked as a whole group to perform sideline routines. From there, they practiced leg kicks and then went on to finish off the day, by breaking up into groups of three to show the panel how well they could work together in small teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach judge was provided with a scoring sheet that broke down the requirements into several areas including appearance\/fitness, dance technique, showmanship and overall presentation,\u201d said Charita White, the Maniacs Director of Dance.<\/p>\n

Charita was pleased with the performance and presentation of the contestants who attended the audition.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only were they talented but they had great personalities that were very engaging. I wish them all luck as we continue the process!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Maniacs are holding a second audition on February 13-14th for those interested in becoming a member of the 2010 Maryland Maniacs Dance Team. Choreographer Jeremy McShan will conduct a dance workshop on February 7th to prepare candidates on what to expect during the audition process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe audition process is not over! We have not made final selections for the team yet and we are determined to find the best candidates available to become a part of the Maniacs organization,\u201d White said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here is the information for those interested in auditioning to become a Maniacs Dance Team member:<\/p>\n

Dates: Saturday, February 13, 2010 and Sunday, February 14, 2010
\nTime : 12 pm \u2013 4 pm
\nLocation: Gold\u2019s Gym 6222 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770
\nCost: $20*<\/p>\n

Audition Attire:
\nForm fitting crop top (No T-shirts)
\nDance trunks, Dance Shorts or Cheer Shorts (No full length or capri pants)
\nJazz Shoes \/ Dance Sneakers \/ Dance Boots
\nHair & Make-up should be performance ready!<\/p>\n

We are having a workshop to prepare dancers for our auditions!!<\/strong><\/p>\n
