Welcome to the Time Machine! The Throwback Thursday feature that allows you to swap current players with former players. Today’s edition is for punters.<\/p>\n

You can either choose to keep the current player that holds the roster spot, or you can fire up the flux capacitor and travel back in time in the Redskins<\/del> Commandelorean, and pick up one of three players that played that position at some point.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\"Washington<\/p>\n

The current Washington outside linebacker is Jamin Davis. Davis was drafted in the first round (19th overall) last year<\/a>\u00a0and has been faced with some scrutiny<\/a> this season from the coaching staff.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This is going to be a tough one. The three players available to you are:<\/p>\n

Monte Coleman<\/a> | Wilber Marshall<\/a> | Chris Hanburger<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is a little bit of information about each player:<\/p>\n

Monte Coleman<\/h2>\n

Drafted out of Central Arkansas in the 11th round (289th overall), Coleman played sixteen glorious seasons for the burgundy and gold.<\/p>\n

From 1979 to 1994, he logged 217 games – the second most games ever in franchise history to only Darrell Green. He is also one of just three Redskins<\/del> to play sixteen seasons for the team. Green and Sammy Baugh being the other two.<\/p>\n

He played in four Super Bowl games for Washington, and was a part of all three Redskins<\/del> Super Bowls.<\/p>\n

Over his career, he registered 43.5 sacks, 17 interceptions, and 3 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Wilber Marshall<\/h2>\n

Marshall was one of the most menacing defenders to ever play for Washington. He spent five of his 12 seasons as a Redskin<\/del> after spending four successful seasons with the Chicago Bears. He won a Super Bowl with both teams (XX,XXVI) – two teams that many consider to be among the greatest teams to ever play football.<\/p>\n

A consensus All-American at Florida, he was the Bears’ first round pick (11th overall) in 1984.<\/p>\n

In his 179 career NFL games, he registered 1,043 tackles, 45 sacks, 24 forced fumbles, 16 fumble recoveries, 23 interceptions and 4 defensive touchdowns!<\/p>\n

Marshall was selected for three Pro Bowls, as well as being a two-time First Team All Pro (1986, 1992) and a Second Team All Pro (1991).<\/p>\n

He is a member of the Florida Ring of Honor, the 100 greatest Bears of All-Time, and the 80 Greatest Redskins. He is also in the University of Florida Athletic Hall Of Fame.<\/p>\n

Fun Fact:<\/strong> Marshall was given the nickname Steve Austin when he came to Washington. He was named so, after the 70s TV star of the $6 Million Man – which was the amount of the contract that Wilber signed. A very tidy sum for the time.<\/p>\n

Chris Hanburger<\/h2>\n

Hanburger played his entire 14-year NFL career for the Redskins<\/del>\u00a0(1965-1978), after being drafted out of North Carolina in the 18th round (245th overall) of the 1965 Draft.<\/p>\n

He was considered to be one of, if not THE best outside linebackers of his era. He was elected to NINE Pro Bowls (1966-1969, 1972-1976), as well as being a First Team All Pro five times (1969,1972,1973,1975,1976), and a Second Team All Pro once (1974).<\/p>\n

He loved to clothesline opponents and thusly earned the nickname “The Hangman”.<\/p>\n

In his 187 games, he registered 19 interceptions and 5 touchdowns. He recovered three fumbles for touchdowns – an NFL record at the time of his retirement in 1978. He captained the defense from 1973 to 1977 and called the defensive plays under George Allen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All of that earned him a spot in\u00a0the Redskins Ring OF Fame, as well as the 80 Greatest Redskins.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011<\/a>.<\/p>\n
