NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal just posted his General Manager Power Rankings<\/a> based on how teams have drafted recently. How did the Washington management group fare in respect to others? It didn’t. The rankings left off the nine teams that have one draft (or less) of experience, so that left Washington’s three-headed approach off the list.<\/p>\n

They were listed, and listed last, but they were not actually ranked in the 23.<\/p>\n

Ron Rivera\/Marty Hurney\/Martin Mayhew, Football Team<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is one of the most confusing setups in the league, but Hurney and Mayhew made it clear after their hires in January<\/a> that Rivera is in charge. The irony here is that Rivera’s first draft in Washington, spearheaded by Kyle Smith, was terrific with Antonio Gibson and safety Kamren Curl adding to a no-brainer pick of Chase Young at No. 2 overall.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rivera named former Washington cornerback Martin Mayhew, as the new general manager in January.<\/p>\n

Then Rivera hired his former general manager in Carolina, Marty Hurney, to be the executive vice president of football\/player personnel.<\/p>\n

So who reports to who?<\/p>\n

According to Mayhew, he reports directly to Rivera.\u00a0Mayhew and Hurney may have considerable input in personnel matters, but Riverboat Ron is at the top of the hierarchy.<\/p>\n

Isn’t there one missing?<\/p>\n

It likely bears mentioning that the three-headed monster in Washington probably actually has four heads.<\/p>\n

After all, Rosenthal was gauging it on Draft performance, and everybody knows how the Haskins draft debacle came to pass.<\/p>\n
