Anthony Sweat was killed in a\u00a0shooting on Tuesday evening in Henrico County. He was the\u00a027-year-old brother of Washington defensive end Montez Sweat.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred just after 4pm in the 7600 block of Wistar Village Drive – a busy apartment complex.<\/p>\n

Sweat was the lone victim in the shooting, and EMS pronounced him dead on the scene.<\/p>\n

The Henrico Police said that despite being from\u00a0Stone Mountain, Georgia, he had ties to the area.<\/p>\n

According to a CBS 6 report<\/a>, it was the 25th homicide in the county for 2021. There were only 15 in 2020.<\/p>\n

Understandably, Montez Sweat was not at practice on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Ron Rivera started his Wednesday media session by offering his condolences to Sweat and his family.<\/p>\n

“It is rough and our thoughts and prayers are with the families.”<\/p>\n

“We try to make sure that the players understand that we’re here for them,” Rivera said. “We do have a team psychologist and she’s available, as well as not just myself but position coaches, coordinators and Malcolm Blacken, who is our director of player development. We’re there for them.”<\/p>\n
