On Friday the Washington Football Team announced that it had trimmed the roster by five players. Among those released was the son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Randy Moss – Thaddeus Moss.<\/p>\n

Moss played college football at LSU after transferring from NC State. He caught two touchdowns in LSU’s 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship game. Moss was found to have a broken foot just before the 2020 NFL Draft, and was not selected.<\/p>\n

He opted to sign with Washington as an undrafted free agent, but also had interest from both the Patriots and Bengals.<\/p>\n

Tight End Light<\/h2>\n

His departure leaves just Marcus Baugh, \u00a0Tyrone Swoopes and Temarrick Hemingway behind starter Logan Thomas on Washington’s Depth Chart<\/a>. The tight ends are a very inexperienced and unproven group other than Thomas. Jeremy Sprinkle joined the Dallas Cowboys via free agency. WFT will look to bolster the tight end position with one of their picks at the NFL Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Caleb Brantley<\/h2>\n

Washington also released defensive tackle Caleb Brantley. Brantley made headlines in 2020, for opting not to play due to COVID, but hadn’t seen much action since arriving in 2018. He is a victim of numbers on one of the Washington Football Team’s deepest units.<\/p>\n

Washington also released running backs Javon Leake<\/strong> and Michael Warren<\/strong>. Wide receiver Emanuel Hall<\/strong> was let go as well as they fine tune their roster for 2021.<\/p>\n

Roster Information<\/h2>\n

Roster moves are even more frequent during the COVID-19 pandemic. As an added safety measure, offseason rosters consist of a maximum of just 80 players, rather than the typical 90.<\/p>\n

NFL teams will be permitted to carry 12 players on their practice squad again in 2021. That will increase to 14 players in 2022.<\/p>\n

Teams will also again be allowed to have 48 players (instead of 46), on their active game day roster. Teams can only field 48 players, if eight of them are offensive linemen. Otherwise they may only activate 47 players.<\/p>\n
